The Left Branded ANOTHER Sexual Identity. It’s Extra Confusing.

Are you looking to label your sexual identify and “gay” or “straight” are far too basic? If the “LGBTQIA+” category doesn’t cut it; if you’re not the run-of-the-mill skoliosexial, a person “attracted to genderqueer and transsexual people and expressions”; or the everyday pansexual, “a person who experiences sexual, romantic, physical, and/or spiritual attraction for members of all gender identities/expressions,” do not fear—the left just tacked on “graysexual” to their list of endless sexual identities in effort to label you so you don’t feel labeled.

Apparently, graysexual is a term that “covers the fluid area between people who are sexual and people who aren’t.” It means you’re not “asexual” but you have a very low sex drive, or you do have a high sex drive but don’t necessarily want to act on it, or you have a high sex drive but only want to have sex under “limited and specific circumstances,” or you experience “fluidity” and don’t fit into either “asexual or sexual camps.”

Graysexual is a term that covers the fluid area between people who are sexual and people who aren’t. While graysexuality is usually under the asexuality umbrella, a huge term that includes a lot of different identities, it’s a bit of a misnomer to include graysexual people in the same category as people who never experience sexual attraction or sexual desire in any circumstances.

According to the Asexual Visibility and Education Network, people who are graysexual (or gray-A or gray-ace) might not normally experience sexual attraction, but do sometimes. They might also experience sexual attraction, but a low sex drive. Or they could experience sexual attraction and drive, but not strongly enough to want to act on them.

They could also be people who can enjoy and desire sex, but only under very limited and specific circumstances. There are a lot of options there.

Altogether, the term graysexual helps to describe people who really don’t want sex very often, but who do sometimes experience sexual attraction or sexual desire – those who experience fluidity or don’t fit cleanly into the asexual or sexual camps.

Basically, being “graysexual” sounds a lot like someone with a low sex drive, but apparently it’s much, much more “fluid” and complicated than that.
