On Thursday night, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) trolled far-left Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who in mid-October had worn a designer dress to the ultra-expensive Met Gala that stated, “Tax The Rich,” by tweeting out a photo of her in a dress that was emblazoned in huge letters, “Let’s Go Brandon.”

Boebert tweeted succinctly, “It’s not a phrase, it’s a movement! #LGB”

Newsweek reported of the Met event, “Individual tickets are reportedly priced at $30,000 a piece, a far cry from when [Vogue editor-in-chief Anna] Wintour first took over the running of the event in 1995 when they were just $1,000. Then there are the tables, typically bought by brands and fashion houses. These reportedly start at $275,000.”

The Daily Wire reported:

The “Tax the Rich” dress designed by Aurora James was worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, the Daily Mail noted, adding that the 14-karat designer Mejuri jewelry gold hoop earrings were listed as worth $450 and the open-toed red shoes from James’ Brother Vellies fashion line were valued at roughly $614. Ocasio-Cortez also carried a James purse that also featured the “Tax the Rich” mantra. …

Ocasio-Cortez stated in a press release, “Despite being held in New York City, the culture of the Met Gala is everything but. NYC is often synonymous with inclusivity, inviting millions of people from different walks of life to call this city home. The Met Gala, on the other hand, is seen as elite and inaccessible. I’m attending today because I want to change just that and spotlight women of color who are often not included during events like these.”

Later, Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign promoted “Tax The Rich” merchandise from her campaign store following her stunt at the Met Gala. The Daily Wire noted:

Team AOC “launched an email campaign Tuesday night offering up a policy paper” and re-upping her “‘Tax the Rich’ merchandise pitch,” according to the Boston Herald. The line first launched in December 2020. “Whether the message is on a sweatshirt or something more formal, the facts are the same,” Team AOC said in its email to supporters, promoting the line. “In order to reshape our economy and make it work for all of us — not just those who can self-fund their trips to space — we absolutely must Tax the Rich.”

Ocasio-Cortez complained on Instagram that she was criticized more harshly because she’s a woman, writing, “I am so used to doing the same exact thing that men do — including popular male progressive elected officials — and getting a completely different response.”

The “Let’s Go Brandon” meme was triggered on October 3 when NBC sports reporter Kelli Stavast was interviewing NASCAR driver Brandon Brown at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama after Brown scored his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series win. Stavast stated, as shown in a video, that the crowd was chanting “Let’s go, Brandon!” when in reality they were chanting “F*** Joe Biden.”
