Former President Donald Trump received a boost in New Hampshire primary polls after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis dropped out of the race on Sunday, according to the Real Clear Politics average

All three polls that have been released factoring in DeSantis’ departure from the race put Trump around 60% and more than 20 points ahead of his last remaining GOP competitor, Nikki Haley. For most of the polls taken this month, Haley remained around 15 points behind Trump, even coming within seven points of the Republican frontrunner in one CNN poll. As of Tuesday morning, just hours before voters go to the polls in New Hampshire, Trump stands at 55.8% to Haley’s 36.5%, according to the RCP average.

The most recent poll, released on Monday by the Boston Globe/Suffolk, showed Trump leading Haley 60% to 38%. That poll showed a three-point increase for Trump from a Boston Globe/Suffolk poll released just a day before. Meanwhile, an InsiderAdvantage poll conducted on Sunday after DeSantis dropped out and endorsed Trump showed Trump at 62% to Haley’s 35%. A poll released by the Trafalgar Group on Sunday had Trump at 58% and Haley at 36%.

The former president cruised to a victory in Iowa last week, winning 98 of the state’s 99 counties and taking more than 50% of the vote in the state’s caucuses. DeSantis dropped out of the GOP primary after placing second in Iowa with 21%, as Haley finished third with 19%. New Hampshire appears to be Haley’s best chance to pull off an early upset of Trump as she hopes to solidify herself as a competitive alternative to the former president.

The former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. questioned her former boss’s mental fitness for office during a campaign event in New Hampshire last week after Trump misspoke and appeared to confuse her for former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

“We see that [President Joe] Biden has changed so much in two years,” Haley said. “But last night, Trump is at a rally and he’s going on and on mentioning me multiple times as to why I didn’t take security during the Capitol riots,” Haley said.

“They’re saying he got confused, that he was talking about something else, he’s talking about Nancy Pelosi,” she continued. “He mentioned me multiple times in that scenario. The concern I have is — I’m not saying anything derogatory — but when you’re dealing with the pressures of the presidency, we can’t have someone else that we question whether they’re mentally fit to do this. We can’t.”

Trump fired back at Haley during a rally in New Hampshire on Monday night, arguing that “she is unelectable” because she has sold out to people who are “pro-amnesty, pro-China, pro-open borders, pro-war, pro-deep state, and pro-Biden.”

Most polling locations in New Hampshire will close at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, while some locations will stay open until 8 p.m.
