A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed on Tuesday that Corey Feldman filed a formal police report on Monday identifying men the actor claims sexually abused him when he was a child. The report comes after years of Feldman publicly alleging that he and his fellow child star Corey Haim were sexually molested as children and warning that pedophilia continues to be a massive problem in the industry.
Feldman’s alarming claims have finally begun to get serious media attention after the industry-shaking flood of allegations against megaproducer Harvey Weinstein. Feldman has attempted to shine the spotlight on the “Hollywood child sex ring” for years, including in 2013 on The View, where he was scolded by Barbara Walters for “damaging an entire industry.”
On Monday, Feldman announced in a series of tweets that he had just sat down for “the first formal report ever taken on any of my cases” and that “an official investigation” has now begun:
IMPORTANT CAMPAIGN UPD8: I JUST COMPLETED A FORMAL SIT DOWN INTERVIEW W @LAPDHQ SPECIAL DIVISION, & GAVE THEM ALL THE INFO I KNOW! THIS WAS OFFICIALLY THE 1ST FORMAL REPORT EVER TAKEN ON ANY OF MY CASES, AS SBPD NEVER FOLLOWED UP BACK IN 1993, & HAS NO RECORD OF MY COMPLAINTS. THE LAPD WILL BEGIN AN OFFICIAL INVESTIGATION NOW! THINGS R HEATING UP, IM PRAYING 4 SAFETY!
On Tuesday, the Daily Mail confirmed with LAPD that Feldman had indeed filed his report naming names of his alleged abusers and that his allegations are being investigated. “Corey Feldman filed a report with the Los Angeles Police Department. There is no further information at this time, and his report is being investigated,” a department spokesman told the outlet.
Feldman’s announcement comes after he publicly revealed the identities of two of his alleged assaulters. On The Dr. Oz Show Thursday, Feldman claimed that actor Jon Grissom was the first man to molest him.
“This guy on his My Space page and his Facebook page has got pictures of me and Corey Haim,” said Feldman. “He still taunts it and flaunts it.”
Feldman claimed to Oz that though he wanted to expose Grissom in his 2013 memoir, his lawyers advised against it, encouraging him to use the pseudonym “Ron Crimson.”
“The lawyers made me change the names,” said Feldman. “They gave me a list of three or four… I picked the one that sounded closest to his name.”
Dr. Oz noted that Grissom was now living in Mexico and had a lengthy criminal record, an attorney for the program explaining in a video that Grissom’s record included assault, drugs, and theft, and that he was found guilty in 2003 of child molestation.
On the Today Show on Monday, Feldman named another one of his alleged abusers: Marty Weiss, a child talent manager who was convicted in 2012 of sexually molesting one of his child clients.
