Reality star Khloé Kardashian said she had a hard time connecting with her newborn son, who was born via surrogate, due to how he entered the world.
The 38-year-old mother of two made the revelation during the Season 3 premiere of Hulu’s “The Kardashians.”
“I felt really guilty that this woman just had my baby,” Kardashian said during a confessional interview, per Page Six. “I take the baby and I go to another room and you’re sort of separated. It’s such a transactional experience ’cause it’s not about him.”
She described her feelings at going through the process as being in a state of “shock.”
“I wish someone was honest about surrogacy and the difference of it,” Kardashian said while discussing the process with her sister Kim, who also has two children born via surrogacy. “It’s still great, it’s just very different.”
“It’s a mind f***. It’s really the weirdest thing,” the reality star said. When her sister Kourtney’s ex-boyfriend Scott Disick asked Kardashian if she was “less connected” with her newborn son, she nodded her head yes.
“I do think that there’s a difference when the baby is in your belly,” Kim said of going through surrogacy. “The baby actually feels your real heart — think about it. It touches your [organs], like, there’s no one else on this planet that will feel you from the inside like that — like, your heart,” she said.
Khloé has a 5-year-old daughter, True, and 9-month-old son Tatum with her ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson. The pair has had a tumultuous relationship due to his infidelity, which includes cheating on Kardashian and fathering a baby with another woman while they were together. Kardashian found out the results of the paternity test just days after the couple had their embryo implanted into their surrogate.

“I’m not sure that there is one thing that hurts more than the other,” she said in an episode of “The Kardashians” while referencing the cheating. “Everything is an act of betrayal, everything is a lie, everything is manipulation. It’s deceit.”
“Did Tristan have every opportunity to tell me? Yes,” she said. “Was Tristan going to tell me if there wasn’t a baby involved? Absolutely not, and that shows a lot about his character. The entire thing is despicable.”
