Kavanaugh Pens Letter To Sen. Grassley: ‘I Continue To Want A Hearing As Soon As Possible’ In Order To ‘Clear My Name’

By  Frank Camp

In a letter sent to Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Thursday, SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh wrote that he is hoping to testify before the Senate as soon as possible in order to “clear [his] name.”

Dear Chairman Grassley:

Thank you for the invitation to appear before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary on Monday, September 24. I will be there. I look forward to the opportunity to testify before the Committee.

I also appreciate the time that Committee staff took to interview me on Monday, September 17. During that interview, I twice requested a Committee hearing for the following day, Tuesday, September 18. I continue to want a hearing as soon as possible, so that I can clear my name.

Since the moment I first heard this allegation, I have categorically and unequivocally denied it. I remain committed to defending my integrity.

As Kavanaugh prepares to testify before the Senate, negotiations continue with accuser Christine Blasey Ford.

According to The Hill, Ford’s attorney has asked that a hearing be held on Thursday, that Senators present any and all questions, and that Kavanaugh testify prior to Blasey Ford.

Republicans are allegedly preparing another plan, which would have both parties testify on Wednesday, with potential questions coming from “outside counsel.” Additionally, in this scenario, Ford would testify first, followed by Kavanaugh.

However, as this is a case in which circumstances are rapidly mutating, any potential plans – alleged or concrete – are subject to change.
