Kamala Harris Defends Abortion Up To Birth: A Woman ‘Should Make That Decision’

So just how extreme is presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris? Extreme to the point of defending abortions up to birth.

The California Democrat said in an interview on Wednesday that she believes a woman has a right to choose abortion all the way up to the baby’s birth. Her comments stand in line with the entire Democratic Party platform, which reared its ugly head this week when Senate Democrats successfully blocked the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

“I think it’s up to a woman to make that decision, and I will always stand by that,” she told TheDCNF. “I think she needs to make that decision with her doctor, with her priest, with her spouse. I would leave that decision up to them.”

According to LifeNews, Harris not only helped kill the anti-infanticide bill on Monday but also helped sponsored a pro-abortion bill legalizing all abortions up to birth for whatever reason.

“The so-called ‘Women’s Health Protection Act’ was introduced in Congress in 2017, with dozens of Democrat sponsors, including Harris and presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Beto O’Rourke, Kristen Gillibrand and Bernie Sanders,” reports the outlet. “Nicknamed the ‘Abortion Without Limits Until Birth Act‘ by pro-life groups, the bill would have invalidated nearly all state and federal abortion regulations, including waiting periods, informed consent requirements, bans on late-term abortions and sex-selection abortions and more.”

“Polls indicate that legislation like the bill is strongly opposed by voters,” the report continued. “A new Susan B. Anthony List poll found that 77% of likely voters support legislation to protect infants born alive after botched abortions.”

Kamala Harris has been lauded for her abortion advocacy. In November of last year, Glamour magazine went as far to name her “woman advocate of the year.” In 2016, she led the prosecution effort against pro-life activist David Daleiden after undercover videos exposed Planned Parenthood allegedly selling aborted fetal parts for profit. From LifeNews:

In 2016, Harris’s office raided the home of David Daleiden from the Center for Medical Progress in what appeared to be a politically motivated move. Her office took camera equipment and copies of unreleased videos of people who work in the abortion industry.

Daleiden, the head of the Center for Medical Progress, has been a target of abortion activists and their political friends ever since he released undercover videos showing top Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of aborted babies’ body parts.

Emails later suggested that Harris teamed up with Planned Parenthood to target Daleiden. At the time, pro-life groups called for her resignation, pointing to conflicts of interest including $81,000 in donations from Planned Parenthood to Harris’s election campaigns.

Of course, Kamala Harris has a long way to go if she wants to rally the progressive base around her, no matter how many boxes she checks in the intersectionality narrative. Lately, she has resorted to distancing herself from her prosecutorial past in order to seem less “law and order.” It has not exactly gone smoothly. Just the other day, she vocalized her support for decriminalizing prostitution, prompting condemnation from scores of former sex workers who felt she was being insincere.

Kristen DiAngelo, executive director of the Sex Workers Outreach Project, told HuffPost that Kamala Harris’ supposed shift on the decriminalization of sex workers is an empty promise.

“My take on it is that we are actually starting to do some damage to her campaign … so she had to change her stance,” DiAngelo said. “But do I think she believes it? No.”
