President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that Specialist Sarah Beckstrom of the West Virginia National Guard had passed away after being shot near the White House the day before.
Trump delivered the news as families across the United States were celebrating Thanksgiving, saying, “I must unfortunately tell you that just seconds before I went on right now, I heard that Sarah Beckstrom of West Virginia, one of the Guardsmen that we’re talking about — highly respected, young, magnificent person — started service in 2023, outstanding in every way, she’s just passed away.”
&#8220;She’s no longer with us, she’s looking down on us right now,” the president continued. “Her parents are with her. This just happened. She was savagely attacked, she’s dead, not with us. Incredible person. Outstanding in every single way, in every department. Just horrible.”
Trump’s announcement comes just hours after Beckstrom’s father revealed that she was not expected to survive her injuries.
“I’m holding her hand right now,” Gary Beckstrom said earlier on Thursday. “She has a mortal wound. It’s not going to be a recovery.”
Beckstrom, 20, had reportedly volunteered to serve over the Thanksgiving holiday so that other National Guard members could spend the time at home with their families.

“She volunteered, as did many of those guardsmen and women, so other people could be home with their families. Yet, now, their families are in hospital rooms with them while they are fighting for their lives,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said.
“They answered the call, they took the charge, they volunteered, they put their lives on the line for people they don’t even know, and that unfortunately is becoming a reality more and more for the members of law enforcement,” United States Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro added.
The suspect, Afghan national <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/afghan-national-in-custody-for-national-guard-attack-was-in-country-illegally?author=Cameron+Arcand&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Afghan+National+In+Custody+For+National+Guard+Attack+Was+In+Country+Illegally" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rahmanullah Lakanwal</a>, 29, entered the United States in 2021 as part of President Joe Biden’s “Operation Allies Welcome,” which — as The Daily Wire previously reported — allowed roughly 77,000 Afghan nationals into the country.

Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) posted a performance piece on Sunday — wringing her hands as she blamed the recently-ended government shutdown on President Donald Trump and claimed that he had almost single-handedly ruined Thanksgiving because of it — and got an impromptu review from actress and filmmaker Justine Bateman.
Murray, who voted to keep the government closed — and thus deprive millions of Americans of their food stamp (SNAP) benefits — more than a dozen times, claimed that Trump and Republicans were taking major steps to deprive families of food assistance as the holidays approached. Her main point of contention appeared to be the fact that President Trump had refused to override her vote — and the votes of a majority of Democrats — and do what they would not do, and she insisted that he was the real reason families were being made to suffer.

&#8220;The impression given here is that the director&#8217;s efforts to elicit a proper performance caused the actress to check out during her takes,&#8221; Bateman continued. &#8220;The resulting dialogue delivery is halting. Awkward pauses within the compound word &#8216;Thanksgiving&#8217; and before some prepositions are perhaps an effort by the actress to sabotage the piece itself.&#8221;
When she&#8217;d finished with the actress and her awkward delivery, Bateman turned her attention to the staging of the shot — and some of the issues that a good camera operator would certainly have noticed before making the film public.
&#8220;The utilitarian lighting appears to have been applied hastily and implies a parking garage or other industrial settings,&#8221; she noted. &#8220;The camera frame is vertical with some hazy video filled in at the sides. Avoid this at all costs. This implies an amateur effort. Properly orient your camera horizontally.&#8221;
&#8220;Finally, the setting is extremely distracting. The first impression is that the actress is standing in a bathroom stall. The low wall on her left as the semi-private partition. The orange object on the floor appears to be a toilet with closed toilet seat cover,&#8221; Bateman concluded. &#8220;The silver pipe on the wall suggests an old-fashioned flush system, where the tank is installed above. And the red box serving as the &#8216;flush&#8217; button.&#8221;

Dem Senator Posts Performance Piece Blaming Trump For Almost Killing Thanksgiving, Gets Lousy Review

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro minced no words when he reacted to the Wednesday shooting of two National Guardsmen by an Afghan national near the White House.
&#8220;These are the wages of Joe Biden&#8217;s awful foreign policy combined with his awful immigration policy,&#8221; Shapiro said. &#8220;Remember: Joe Biden decided that in perfectly cowardly and ignominious fashion, the United States was going to flee Afghanistan and leave the entire country in the hands of the Taliban.&#8221;
Two National Guardsmen were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/afghan-national-in-custody-for-national-guard-attack-was-in-country-illegally">shot</a> in an apparent ambush. The suspect, an Afghan national named Rahmanullah Lakanwal, was also reportedly shot and taken into custody at the scene.

Shapiro asserted that Biden could have executed a withdrawal from Afghanistan in a more responsible manner, and noted that the chaotic mess that resulted was the reason Biden&#8217;s State Department had then implemented the refugee policies that allowed this terrorist and others entry into the United States with far less vetting they might otherwise be subjected to.

Ultimately blaming &#8220;Joe Biden&#8217;s cowardice and idiocy,&#8221; Shapiro explained, &#8220;The result of this is that you end up with terrorists in the United States — and you remember, the original goal of this entire operation was to keep terrorists out of the United States and, in fact, to deny a safe haven to terrorists in Afghanistan and to keep terrorists outside of America&#8217;s borders.&#8221;
&#8220;It&#8217;s failure on top of failure on top of failure,&#8221; he added. &#8220;When you bring in huge numbers of people from countries that do not like the United States and whose cultures are, in fact, not assimilative to American values, then you can&#8217;t be surprised when stuff like this happens. You cannot.&#8221;
&#8220;This one is on Joe Biden, pure and simple,&#8221; Shapiro concluded. &#8220;I don&#8217;t know who else to blame. Honestly. It is your job to make sure that some of the most predictably terror-minded people on earth don&#8217;t come into the United States.&#8221;

‘This One Is On Joe Biden’: Ben Shapiro Reacts To National Guard Shooting

Democrats and media personalities have worked overtime — especially in recent weeks — to paint members of the United States Army National Guard as the bad guys, even as domestic terrorists.
Their complaints stem largely from President Donald Trump’s use of the National Guard to defend federal agents and property — as he did when rioters attacked Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Los Angeles — and aid in assisting local authorities in their efforts to reduce rampant crime. And in their commentary, they’ve accused members of the U.S. military of using “authoritarian” tactics, and sitting members of Congress have repeatedly fomented the fear that service members might open fire on civilians.
Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA), for example, <a href="https://x.com/gavinnewsom/status/1981103617265586655?s=46&amp;t=5nB3R1hthzMlYMrXjZyN8Q">claimed</a> in late October that Trump was fabricating emergencies in order to bring in the National Guard, which would then do his bidding and keep the people under control. The move, he said, was straight out of the “authoritarian playbook” or the “dictator’s handbook.”
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mad-maxine-maxine-waters-harasses-ice-agents-are-you-going-to-shoot-an-elected-official">Rep. Maxine Waters</a> (D-CA) went out to an ICE facility and taunted the troops standing guard, demanding to know whether they intended to shoot her.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris, during a book tour stop in Portland, took a moment to weigh in on the fact that National Guard troops had been deployed to protect an ICE facility from rioters. She claimed that their efforts, at Trump’s direction, amounted to an “abhorrent assault on constitutional values and principles.”
<a href="https://x.com/greg_price11/status/1993787164157673565?s=46&amp;t=5nB3R1hthzMlYMrXjZyN8Q">Governor JB Pritzker</a> (D-IL) said that deployment of the National Guard amounted to an “attack on the American people” and claimed that Trump would use members of the military to “stop the 2026 elections.”
The hosts of ABC’s “The View” made a <a href="https://x.com/nickfondacaro/status/1975586006205095999?s=46&amp;t=5nB3R1hthzMlYMrXjZyN8Q">similar prediction</a>, claiming that the use of the National Guard was a strategic effort to prevent the next elections from happening.
“This is a pretext to stop the next election. That&#8217;s what I think it is,” Behar said — and cohost Sara Haines insisted that she’d not seen evidence of violence against ICE.
“And if they stop us from voting, that&#8217;s the one thing people have,” Behar added. “I think people will figure out how to vote.”
And of course, just days before two National Guard troops were shot near the White House, six Democrats released a video insinuating that Trump either had or would issue unlawful orders. While defending that video, Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin claimed that her greatest concern was that a member of the National Guard would open fire on a civilian.

Democrats Have Spent Months Cultivating ‘Terrorist’ Image Of National Guard

Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) doubled down on the viral video he made with five of his colleagues, saying that he had no intention of backing off despite a pending inquiry into his comments.
Kelly addressed the issue during an appearance on &#8220;Jimmy Kimmel Live,&#8221; telling the late-night host that he stood by what he&#8217;d said in the video, which he claimed was intended to caution members of the military to follow only lawful orders from President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration.

The audience cheered, and Kelly continued, &#8220;I mean, we said something very simple. Members of the military need to follow the law. We wanted to say that we have their backs.&#8221;

What Kelly left out was the fact that in the video, clearly implied in their admonitions to &#8220;only obey lawful orders,&#8221; was the notion that President Trump either already had or would certainly issue one or more orders that were not lawful — and that they should be actively looking for them.
War Secretary <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pete-hegseth-unloads-on-insurrection-video-a-politically-motivated-influence-operation">Pete Hegseth</a> referred to it as &#8220;a politically-motivated influence operation&#8221; and argued that it was designed to sow doubt in the minds of service members and plant the seeds of insurrection. He, along with others, noted that Kelly was the only one of the &#8220;Seditious Six&#8221; who had retired from military service and was still subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and could therefore be returned to active duty to face repercussions for his actions. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/politics/call-for-rebellion-stephen-miller-scorches-dems-for-pushing-insurrection-against-trumps-military-orders/">described</a> it as &#8220;insurrection.&#8221;
Kimmel, only too happy to carry Kelly&#8217;s water, lamented the fact that the Arizona senator would now have to take time away from serving the people of his state to hire attorneys and deal with the consequences of his actions.
&#8220;[You have to] consult with lawyers, and have to deal with this when you&#8217;re first of all working for the people of Arizona, the people of the United States,&#8221; Kimmel said. &#8220;Now you actually have to spend your time — are you actually, like, worried about this?&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;ve been through a lot more challenging things than this,&#8221; Kelly said, waving away the concern. &#8220;What I&#8217;m worried about is the reaction and what this transmits to the military and the public, which is basically, &#8216;Shut up, and listen to that guy.'&#8221;
Kelly continued down that same path, noting that service members swear an oath to the Constitution while insinuating that President Trump — who also swore such an oath — was likely to violate that and order them to do the same.

Surprise! Jimmy Kimmel Throwing His Support Behind The ‘Seditious Six’

Gym rat and singer turned activist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-tish-hyman-the-california-lesbian-fighting-to-keep-men-out-of-womens-locker-rooms">Tish Hyman</a> crashed Rep. Eric Swalwell&#8217;s (D-CA) recent town hall event, demanding answers from him regarding whether he would support women&#8217;s sex-based rights or would continue to allow trans-identifying men to invade women&#8217;s spaces.
Swalwell, who just recently announced that he was running to be the next governor of California, was trying to tout his personal record as a prosecutor when it came to crimes against women. Hyman, the subject of a recent viral video involving a trans-identifying man in the women&#8217;s locker room at her gym, pressed him repeatedly to recognize that men were not women, regardless of how they choose to identify.

&#8220;I&#8217;m going to protect women,&#8221; Swawell said. &#8220;I did as a prosecutor, I will protect women. No woman should be harassed —&#8221;
&#8220;Are there gonna be men allowed in the women&#8217;s room anymore?&#8221; Hyman shouted. &#8220;We need to know!&#8221;
&#8220;No woman should be harassed in a locker room, that&#8217;s a crime,&#8221; Swalwell said.
&#8220;Answer straight!&#8221; Hyman demanded. &#8220;Are there gonna be women — are you against men in women&#8217;s locker rooms and sports? That&#8217;s all you need to answer. Please!&#8221;
Swalwell did not answer directly but continued to insist that he would protect women and that women &#8220;should not be harassed&#8221; while in locker rooms.
&#8220;It&#8217;s happening all over America. There are 45 men in the women&#8217;s prisons right now raping them! Picking them out like chicken. Trans men are NOT women! They are raping women. So I don&#8217;t care if you&#8217;re on the Democrat side, the Republican side, we need to be on the women&#8217;s side, people!&#8221; Hyman demanded. &#8220;It&#8217;s happening to our girls, it&#8217;s happening to our women, and I&#8217;m here to let everyone know that this is happening.
