Hollywood producer Judd Apatow is on the war path against his industry’s sexual predators following allegations that movie mogul Harvey Weinstein sexually harassed women for decades throughout his career.
Aside from routinely denouncing Weinstein in the harshest terms, Apatow has openly called for disbanding the entire Weinstein Co. board, and has now set his sights on other alleged Hollywood predators, namely, Woody Allen.
Firing salvos from his Twitter page on Wednesday, Apatow said he felt “sad” that actresses do not “run” from roles offered by Woody Allen.
Indeed, Allen has enjoyed working with a plethora of A-list actresses ever since he married Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter (after having a long partnership with Farrow hersef). And Allen has enjoyed a steady stream of Kate Winslets willing to lay their talents before his altar, despite having been accused by his former adopted son, Ron Farrow, of molesting his adoptive daughter.
Since the allegations broke back in 2014, Allen maintained, and still does, that Ronan Farrow and his sister Dylan were both coached into their accusations by their mother, allegations Allen maintains are false.
Whatever the truth in Allen’s case, few can deny the creepiness inherent in how he met his wife.
And his weirdness is only compounded by the director’s obsession with stories about older males getting their freak on with younger, sometimes underage, girls in his movies. His upcoming film starring Selena Gomez and Elle Fanning is a “coming of age love story” where a 44-year-old man has sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Apatow takes serious issue that any actress would work with Allen given all of this.
“It is sad that he is obsessed with all these young actresses and none of them run when offered the job,” Apatow posted on Twitter.
