Legendary rock star Jon Bon Jovi recently reflected on his son’s engagement, indicating he disagreed with criticism that the 20-year-old was too young to get married.

Jake Bongiovi recently announced his engagement to 19-year-old “Stranger Things” actress Millie Bobby Brown.

Bon Jovi discussed the upcoming nuptials during an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Radio Andy.” Cohen mentioned how Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorothea, were high school sweethearts and have been married for 34 years.

“When your almost 21-year-old says, ‘I’m getting engaged,’ do you worry for them that they’re too young or because you were so young when you were with Dorothea, you weren’t engaged that young, but do you worry as a dad about how old or how young they are?” Cohen asked.

“I don’t know if age matters,” Bon Jovi said. “If you find the right partner and you grow together … All of my kids have found the people that they think they can grow together with and we like ‘em all.”

“Millie is wonderful,” the rocker said of his future daughter-in-law. “Her whole family are great. Jake is very, very happy.”

Brown and Bon Jovi’s son announced their engagement last month after two years of dating when Brown shared a photo of them with a line from a Taylor Swift song, “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ’em all.” The couple faced criticism from fans saying they were too young to marry.

But others came to their defense, sharing their own stories of young marriages that lasted decades.

“Congrats! My mom got married a week before her 19th birthday, everyone said her marriage would never work because of her age, but my parents still have the most beautiful lovely marriage I’ve ever seen!” one commenter wrote on Instagram.

“People still talk about age? Also, I don’t believe she asked for anyone’s opinion or advice. Move along,” another fan wrote.

“This should be normalized,” a third person shared. “My Fiancé (19) and I (21) are getting married in 21 weeks. Getting married young means we get to grow up together and experience a fuller life with each other. Tradition may have a stigma but that doesn’t make it any less reliable and trustworthy. I admire you Millie!”
