Joe Rogan is not dead, but a Twitter hoax claiming he was quickly caught fire this week, leaving some fans worried it was true.

The 54-year-old host of “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast was trending Wednesday after multiple accounts began sharing the rumor that he had died, Newsweek reported

“We are saddened to announce the passing of Joe Rogan,” a tweet from the account @joerogannhq said. “He died peacefully in his home this afternoon, we will provide more details as they arrive, with respect to his family’s wishes.”

The tricksters went one step further by including a message of condolences from UFC president Dana White. The faux sentiment added fuel to the rumor. “The entire UFC family is devastated to hear of Joe Rogan’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family she loved ones, and we will make sure to continue his legacy. – Dana White,” a screenshot of the now-deleted tweet read.

Apparently, this isn’t the first time Rogan’s death was falsely reported. These often trend with the hashtag #RIPJoeRogan. When one such hoax was circulating in 2014, Rogan responded by tweeting a link to the article with the caption, “I’m alive as f***, SON.”

Rogan is alive but he’s still causing controversy just by voicing opinions. Most recently, the popular podcaster came under fire for speaking out against trans collegiate swimmer Lia Thomas, a biological male who was permitted to compete against women.

“What it is now is an assault on women’s sports,” Rogan said during the episode, according to The Daily Wire. “And the idea that anybody would think it’s fair that someone who [was] number 462 as a man … in the nation is number one as a woman a year later, and that’s fair? … That might be the woke straw that breaks the society’s camel back.”

“Because people are — women are so frustrated, or parents if your daughter’s competing, and they’re competing against a trans woman, it’s not fair,” he continued. “It’s just not fair. No matter what anybody says. There’s this nonsense idea of like, ‘Well, there’s outliers.’”

“There’s outliers and then there’s biological males. That’s beyond outliers,” Rogan said.

In January, he said it was “f***ed up” that women swimmers were forced to compete against Thomas.

Rogan is far from the only prominent figure to speak out on Thomas, however, with his opposition demanding that the “JRE” podcast be removed from Spotify, it’s just adding more fuel to the fire that his deviating from mainstream opinion can be classified as “misinformation” or “hate speech.”

Last month, Rogan made it clear that if he was required to “walk on eggshells” on his show, he plans to “quit” doing podcasts entirely. That’s big news for the most popular podcast out there right now.
