Former First Lady Jill Biden is still wondering whether someone could have slipped something into then-President Joe Biden’s drink ahead of his disastrous 2024 debate with now-President Donald Trump.
Biden sat down with Jamie Kern Lima on her eponymous podcast, and the conversation turned to that moment — the moment that even the president’s staunchest allies and defenders had to admit that something was not right with his cognitive function.
“Still to this day, you don’t have a gut instinct on what — what was that moment?” the host asked.
“No,” Biden replied. “I mean, there’s all kinds of theories — you know, he had been traveling. I know he was tired, he didn’t feel well that day when I saw him, but there was nothing definitive that I could point to.”
“And I had been on the road for two weeks up until that moment, so I wasn’t with him. I didn’t see him days before, weeks before,” she added. “I saw him maybe one hour before.”
“And there’s no way anyone could have, God forbid, laced his drink or something —” Kern Lima suggested.
“Who knows? Who knows?” Biden answered.
“Who knows?” Kern Lima repeated.
“Right? Who knows?” Biden said again.
Kern Lima also asked the former first lady what she might say if embattled former First Son Hunter Biden ever decided to run for office — or even for president.
“You know, I do have a funny answer for that,” Biden said, adding, “I would say, ‘Run.’ But then you take that how you want to … So, you know, Hunter’s got to find his own path. And whatever he decides to do — I feel that with all our kids … whatever they decide to do, we will support them. We’ll support them, 100%.”
Biden went on to say that she’d felt the same way about supporting her husband no matter what, claiming that she’d found it “daunting” when he decided to run for president, but her desire to “support” him ultimately won out.
