Jesse Jackson RIPS Milwaukee. Milwaukee Is His Fault.

By  Ben Shapiro

On Tuesday, historically awful race-baiter Jesse Jackson penned an op-ed for the Chicago Sun Times blaming white America for the race riots in Milwaukee. Of course.

Jackson quoted Alderman Khalif Rainey calling the city a “powder keg.” What makes Milwaukee such a terrible place? According to Rainey, “Now this is a warning cry. … Do we continue — continue with the inequities, the injustice, the unemployment, the undereducation…? The black people of Milwaukee are tired. They’re tired of living under this oppression. This is their existence. This is their life. This is the life of their children.”

Jackson points out that Milwaukee is highly segregated, incredibly impoverished, and severely undereducated. Then he concludes:

[T]he injustice is worse in modern Milwaukee than it was in segregated Birmingham…Dr. King’s cry against the injustice of segregation touched the conscience of concerned citizens across the country. Will anyone hear the cry of the north side of Milwaukee, or the south side of Chicago? Or will our cities have to explode before action replaces neglect?

Except that every policy Jackson backs has been applied in Milwaukee, Chicago, and all the other Democrat-dominated cities where riots have become prevalent. The policies that would actually work – better social standards, local control of education, more policing – have been unilaterally deemed unpalatable by Jackson.

And this is the problem. When you determine that American society is infused with racism, irredeemably poisoned with racism, then no decent or rational solution suffices to fix racial imbalances. The entire system must be torn down.

But that means tearing down all the social institutions, from education to public safety, that ensure the possibility of a better life. America is a package deal: you can’t reject the most basic aspects of American exceptionalism and then expect things to go well.

And they aren’t.

Democrats keep rejecting individual responsibility and law and order, and then they’re surprised when the cities the rule collapse into violence. Or perhaps they aren’t surprised at all. Perhaps they’re fine with that collapse, since it just gives them an excuse to build a new superstructure – one that won’t make any lives better among poor black people in Milwaukee, but will give more power to the leftists in the halls of politics.
