Jesse Jackson: Electoral College Must Be ABOLISHED

By  Paul Bois

It is possible to sometimes understand what Rev. Jesse Jackson is saying. Apparently (but who can be absolutely sure these days), the race-baiting reverend called for the abolishment of the electoral college because it gave us the Trump presidency.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Jackson gave a speech at the Islamic Center of Southern California where he lamented how the electoral college led to the loss of Al Gore in 2000 and Hillary Clinton in 2016 (both won the popular vote), saying it gives too much influence to America’s rural sections.

Jackson also called for a removal of Confederate monuments.

“Today we are looking at a structural problem,” Jackson said. “These monuments must go.”

Jackson then invited the crowd to chant with him: “Say the monuments and the flags and the electoral college must go.”

The good reverend then compared the woman slain by a white nationalist in Charlottesville last week, Heather Heyer, to other civil rights martyrs such as Medgar Evers.

“The martyrs triggered a new day,” Jackson said. “There is power in the blood of the martyrs. When Heather was killed, it redefined Charlottesville. It redefined this phase of American history. We are here today because Heather died. In many ways this new situation has connected us in new ways.”

When asked later if he felt President Trump should be impeached, Jackson did not answer the question, only saying that he would accept the results of any election so long as he knew they were fair.

Setting his eye for 2018, Jackson said civil rights, which is to say the intersectionality narrative — that society’s structures are inherently racist — should be the Democrats’ platform.

Let us all hope they listen to him.

Though Jackson is a minister, his record on virtually every issue fundamental to Christianity (abortion, traditional marriage) has stood in line with that of the Democrats.

Speaking of Trump, Jesse Jackson previously praised him for his work with minorities back in 1999.

“We need your building skills, your gusto, your [unintelligible] for people on Wall Street to represent diversity, and we thank you for coming tonight. Let’s give Donald Trump a big hand,” Jackson said at an event.

How times have changed. Now, who’s up for a game of “What the hell did Jesse Jackson say?
