White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is now blaming rising costs on a Republican governor who implemented a new policy to combat the expected surge in illegal immigration into the U.S. as a result of the Biden administration ending the use of a pandemic-era policy that made it easier to expel illegal aliens.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered state troopers to conduct additional inspection of commercial trucks at the U.S.-Mexico border in response to the Biden administration ending the use of Title 42, which will officially end in May. Federal law enforcement officials are now having to brace for dealing with up to 18,000 migrants per day on the U.S. southern border in response to the Biden administration’s decision.
Psaki slammed Abbott’s attempt to secure Texas’ border with Mexico, something that the Biden administration has largely failed to do as evidenced by the overwhelming surge of illegal immigration that has occurred under Biden, releasing a statement on Tuesday morning that blamed Abbott for rising prices across the U.S.
In a statement, Psaki claimed:
Governor Abbott’s unnecessary and redundant inspections of trucks transiting ports of entry between Texas and Mexico are causing significant disruptions to the food and automobile supply chains, delaying manufacturing, impacting jobs, and raising prices for families in Texas and across the country. Local businesses and trade associations are calling on Governor Abbott to reverse this decision because trucks are facing lengthy delays exceeding 5 hours at some border crossings and commercial traffic has dropped by as much as 60 percent. The continuous flow of legitimate trade and travel and CBP’s ability to do its job should not be obstructed. Governor Abbott’s actions are impacting people’s jobs, and the livelihoods of hardworking American families.
Meanwhile, Abbott has started to ship illegal immigrants to Washington, D.C., in an effort to bring the border directly to U.S. lawmakers.
“As the federal government continues to turn a blind eye to the border crisis, the State of Texas will remain steadfast in our efforts to fill in the gaps and keep Texans safe,” Governor Abbott said. “By busing migrants to Washington, D.C., the Biden Administration will be able to more immediately meet the needs of the people they are allowing to cross our border. Texas should not have to bear the burden of the Biden Administration’s failure to secure our border.”
