Vice President JD Vance slammed Margaret Brennan during an interview over the weekend for trying to play “gotcha” games over the inflation from former President Joe Biden’s administration that has plagued the economy.
Vance had to explain to Brennan, who has a clear left-wing bias, that it will take a little bit of time for President Donald Trump’s policies to have an impact on prices going down.
“Well, there were a lot of things that contributed to higher energy prices,” Brennan claimed. “And there was record oil and gas production.”
Vance laughed back: “Yes, Joe Biden did many, many terrible things to lead to an increase in prices. I agree, Margaret.”
“But the price of eggs, the things that people see—” Brennan responded. “All the things you experience at the grocery store are what people touch and feel. That’s what – you were talking about bacon on the campaign trail.”
“Those things, when do consumers actually get to touch and feel a difference in their lives?” she snickered.
“Well, but, Margaret, how does bacon get to the grocery store? It comes on trucks that are fueled by diesel fuel,” Vance responded. “If the diesel is way too expensive, the bacon is going to become more expensive. How do we grow the bacon? Our farmers need energy to produce it.”
“So, if we lower energy prices, we are going to see lower prices for consumers, and that is what we’re trying to fight for,” he continued.
