James Comey Donates To Amy Klobuchar’s Presidential Campaign

   DailyWire.com

Former FBI Director James Comey donated $2,700 to Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s (D-MN) presidential campaign according to filings for the Federal Election Commission.

Comey’s Wife, Patrice Comey, also donated $2,700 Klobuchar’s campaign. Both donations were made during the first quarter of 2019 and are $100 short of the limit $2,800 contribution for primaries, reported The Hill.

In an interview earlier this month with Vogue, Comey said that he was in the same law school class as Klobuchar at the University of Chicago Law School, adding that she was “annoyingly smart.”

According to Rolling Stone, other notable donors of Klobuchar also include Zygi Wilf, the Minnesota Vikings owner and Dana Walden, the chairwoman of Disney Television Studios and ABC Entertainment.

During the 2018 midterms, Comey knocked doors for Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) who defeated former Rep. Barbara Comstock in Virginia’s 10 Congressional District.

Comey, once a longtime registered Republican, told Congress in 2016 that he was no longer registered as a Republican. After Rep. Gerry Connolley (D-VA) asked the then FBI Director, if he was a Republican, Comey responded: “I have been a registered Republican for most of my adult life, not registered any longer.”

When Comey was fired from his position at the FBI by President Donald Trump, Klobuchar said: ”I was a friend of Jim Comey in law school, a classmate of his. And while I didn’t agree with him on how we handled the Hillary Clinton investigation, he was respected by the agents that worked with him, respected by law enforcement in Minnesota.”

Klobuchar is currently polling around 1.6%, reported The Daily Wire. The Minnesota senator also had an embarrassing moment Monday night at the CNN town hall where she told the audience to applaud her.

“Look at what I’ve done. I’m someone who runs in a purple state,” Klobuchar told the audience. “When I started running for office, the other senator was Republican, the governor was Republican and three of our four constitutional officers were Republican. And then I started running, and every single time I’ve run, I’ve won every single congressional district in my state, including [former Rep.] Michele Bachmann’s.”

Silence fell after her answer, prompting Klobuchar to follow up, jokingly, with: “That’s when you guys are supposed to cheer, okay?”

Only then did the audience clap.

Many observers drew a comparison between Klobuchar awkward moment and former Republican presidential candidate, Jeb Bush, telling a crowd in New Hampshire in 2016 to “please clap.”

Klobuchar will reportedly participate in a town hall on Fox News next month. Klobuchar’s town hall is currently scheduled to take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for Wednesday, May 8 and will be broadcasted live from 6:30 – 7:30 PM ET. The town hall will be moderated by Fox News anchors, Breit Baier and Martha MacCallum.

Presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders also participated in a Fox News town hall earlier this month, despite criticism from the Left for appearing on the right-leaning outlet. Baier and MacCallum also moderated Sanders’ town hall.
