Former Olympian Bruce Jenner, who now goes by Caitlyn, will no longer be “tucking the damn thing in all the time.”
According to a report from Radar Online, Jenner has undergone sex-reassignment surgery and is telling the world about it in a new memoir called The Secrets of My Life.
Jenner came out as transgender in 2015 during a highly publicized interview with Diane Sawyer; the former Olympian followed up the coming-out party with a spread in Vanity Fair where he revealed his new name: Caitlyn.
Jenner reportedly underwent genital surgery in January of this year.
“The surgery was a success, and I feel not only wonderful but liberated,” the 67-year-old announces in an excerpt of the upcoming memoir obtained by Radar.
According to Jenner, a penis is “just a penis,” it “has no special gifts or use for me other than what I have said before, the ability to take a whiz in the woods.”
“I just want to have all the right parts,” adds Jenner. “I am also tired of tucking the damn thing in all the time.”
The choice to go public with the surgery was “so all of you can stop staring,” the reality TV star explains in the book. “You want to know, so now you know. Which is why this is the first time, and the last time, I will ever speak of it.”
Jenner notes that the choice to have the surgery was a “complex decision” due to potential health risks associated with such an operation.
“I am going to live authentically for the first time in my life,” wrote Jenner following the surgery. “I am going to have an enthusiasm for life that I have not had in 39 years since the Olympics, almost two thirds of my life.”
Jenner won the gold in the men’s Olympic decathlon in 1976. He is the father of six children via three marriages. He became a reality TV star as the husband of Kris Kardashian, with whom he had Kendall and Kylie, before announcing that he was transitioning to Caitlyn in September 2015.
