Poor Kamala Harris. This week, the Biden administration sent the vice president to Poland to “serve as an emissary and an emblem of the administration’s commitment” to our NATO ally as well as Western nations in Europe as a whole. It didn’t go so well, and now even former Ukrainian government officials — like President Volodomyr Zelensky’s former Press Secretary Iuliia Mendel – are wincing in distress at her unforced errors, saying what a “tragedy” it would be if she ever held the office of the United States presidency. After blowback, Mendel deleted that tweet, but her sentiment remains true.
On the trip, Harris was not to make any deals, simply speak and carry with her a certain level of decorum that would imbue confidence in American leadership, Politico reported. But, as only Kamala can do, she wound up embarrassing the nation as she laughed while discussing the future of Ukrainian people fleeing the country.
On Thursday, The Daily Wire reported that Harris chuckled during a press conference “after being asked if the U.S. will set aside space for Ukrainian refugees to immigrate to America.”
That awkward exchange can be read here:
Harris and Poland’s President Andrzej Duda were asked about the U.S. accepting Ukrainian refugees, and the vice president giggled awkwardly before Duda began answering the serious question, with more than 2 million Ukrainians fleeing, many to Poland.
“A friend in need is a friend indeed,” Harris said with a smile before a more somber Duda said he had asked the U.S. vice president to help speed up the process for Ukrainian refugees with family in the U.S. to be able to head to America.
“We are looking for international support because indeed the vast majority of Ukrainian refugees are coming to our country,” Duda said. Harris stopped short of saying the U.S. will commit to taking in a certain number of Ukrainians fleeing the war.
But she did say Ukrainians now in the U.S. who may have visas that are expiring soon can stay in the U.S. “We will not send them back to what is a war zone,” Harris said.
The video of it must be seen to be believed:
Only Kamala Harris would find it appropriate to laugh when talking about the topic of Ukrainian Refugees.

But perhaps it is believable even without video. Harris now has a track record of laughing at the worst possible moments.
In addition to other flubs in speaking, Harris simply does not present herself well on the world stage — or any kind of stage. If mainstream American media has not noticed this by now, certainly reporters from around the globe have observed the behavior.
Last June, SkyNews Australia’s Chris Kenny pointed out that on issues such as the border, if Harris does not have an answer to question from a reporter, then “she just laughs”:
In the middle of the worst migrant crisis Europe has seen since World War II, that silliness led the now-Ukrainian journalist Mendel to tweet, “It would be a tragedy if this woman won the presidency.” Curiously enough, it would appear Mendel received blowback from the self-proclaimed “K-Hive,” a crew of internet defenders of the nation’s first female vice president.
The deleted tweet can be seen here:
She deleted this tweet AND her ridiculous follow up tweet.
I fully support Ukraine. I pray for world peace. And I will confront lies and misinformation every damn day.

One Twitter user and apparent “K-Hive” member tweeted, “@IuliiaMendel still needs to apologize for lying and spreading misinformation about Vice President Harris!!! Slava Ukraini.”

Critics assert the clip is out of context, and the laughter was in response to confusion amidst translators saying who should speak first. But still, Harris’ trip as a whole has been a monumental disaster.
Consider that on Thursday, The Daily Wire also reported Harris was asked about America giving an additional $53 million to the U.N. World Food Program to assist Ukraine. Her response was rebuked as a “word salad” lacking any significance, and can be in part found here:
The U.N. has set up a process by which there will be a review and investigations, and we will of course participate as appropriate and necessary, but we all watched the television coverage of just yesterday.
That’s on top of everything else that we know and don’t know yet based on what we’ve just been able to see and because we’ve seen it or not doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened. But just limit it to what we have seen. Pregnant women going for health care being injured by, I don’t know, a missile, a bomb, in an unprovoked, unjustified war, where a powerful country is trying to take over another country, violate its sovereignty, its territorial integrity, for the sake of what? Nothing that is justified or provoked?
Absolutely there should be an investigation, and we should all be watching, and I have no question the eyes of the world are on — this war — and what Russia has done in terms of this aggression and these atrocities. I have no doubt.
Tom Elliott, who shared that clip, summed up Harris’ trip succinctly, simply saying, “We are not sending our best.”
