Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, made clear to the world Israel’s commitment to the oppressed people of Iran, holding up a photo of Mahsa Amini — the young woman murdered by the Iranian regime for not wearing a hijab in the way approved by the regime — during the speech of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who has been called “The Butcher of Tehran.”
U.N. security personnel immediately grabbed Erdan and detained him.
“New moral stain for the UN!! When President Raisi of Iran, the ‘Butcher of Tehran,’ began his speech, I waved a picture of Mahsa Amini, the innocent Iranian woman who was brutally murdered by the regime one year ago for not wearing a hijab ‘properly,'” Erdan posted on X. “Meanwhile, outside the UN hundreds of Iranians were protesting, begging for help from the international community. I will never stop fighting for the truth and I will always expose the UN’s moral distortions. Those who roll out the red carpet for murderers and antisemites must be held accountable for their actions!”

UN police manhandle #Israeli UN Amb. Gilad Erdan (& then deny it). https://t.co/OkzfPRMTfv His offence? Challenging Iranian Prez at #UNGA with evidence of Iranian brutality. https://t.co/JQSjzef0qs Rest of world? Fine with #UN platform for "murderers & antisemites." pic.twitter.com/LOKEfXNjAU

JUST IN: Israeli Ambassador to the U.N. Gilad Erdan was detained Tuesday at U.N. Headquarters — as seen in U.S. exclusive video from NEWSMAX — after protesting the speech of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. https://t.co/v9k51VTCPT pic.twitter.com/lpNgLzO6N7

Prior to his action at the U.N., Erdan posted to X:
While the UN rolls out the red carpet for the Butcher of Tehran, President Raisi, Iranians in New York are here to show the true face of the Ayatollah regime. The leaders in Iran only seek to oppress, starve, and murder their own people, while exporting terror and racing toward nuclear weapons. The world must wake up and listen to the voices of innocent Iranians! The Ayatollah regime must be held accountable for their crimes and pay the price! The people of Israel stand with the people of Iran.

“Raisi was one of four members of a death committee responsible for the 1988 execution of thousands of Iranian prisoners of conscience in the space of a few months,” Tablet Magazine reported in July 2021. “The ideologically motivated mass executions constituted both a crime against humanity and genocide—a cleansing of religious infidels—according to international human rights expert Geoffrey Robertson. It was a massacre, he says, comparable to those at Srebrenica and the Katyn Forest.”

“Virgins were systematically raped before their execution, to circumvent the Islamic prohibition on killing virgins and to prevent women and girls from reaching heaven,” Tablet added. “The executed were ordered to write their own names on their hands before they went to their death.”
Erdan’s action was supported by Iranians sick of the despotic regime that controls their country:

Thank you Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan @giladerdan1 for honoring the memory of Mahsa Amini – savagely killed by the Islamic Republic of Iran for the way she dressed – during the speech of Iran's President to the U.N. just now!
