Former CIA Director John Brennan said on Wednesday that his recent referral for criminal prosecution was clear proof that he was being targeted personally by Republicans.
Brennan, appearing on MSNBC, reacted to the news that House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) had referred him to the Justice Department — via a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi — over allegations that he had lied to Congress.

“The fact that individuals like a Jim Jordan are going to go after somebody — I served nearly three and a half decades in public service, a lot involving counter-terrorism in the aftermath of 9/11,” Brennan reminded the audience clearly taken aback that anyone would dare try to hold him to account. “They don’t care about doing things like this to destroy individuals, to go after me, to hurt me and my family and others.”

And I see that more and more people are starting to realize what Donald Trump is all about, and so I’m hoping that the Republicans in Congress, and I know it’s a — it’s a wish that I’ve had for quite a while — they’re really going to draw the line.”
Brennan went on to accuse Trump of “abuse of power.”
