An Iranian-American student at the University of Michigan who dared to confront Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed over Iran’s brutal regime fired back following a reported vicious campaign of online doxxing, death threats, and harassment.
“You think you can just walk into a university and think everyone’s gonna love you?” college student Iman Dashti declared in a fiery Instagram video. “There will always be people like me, people on our own, that are sick and tired of your bullsh*t.”
The alleged targeting erupted after an explosive campus town hall exchange where Dashti put El-Sayed directly on the hot seat. Pointing to leaked audio in which El-Sayed refused to criticize former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Dashti demanded to know if the candidate stood unequivocally against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the murderous Islamic Republic.
“My cousin was hunted in the streets of Iran by the IRGC because her hijab wasn’t on right,” Dashti challenged at the forum, recalling his family’s harrowing nightmare under the regime. “My uncle was sentenced to die, received 50 lashings by Ali Khamenei’s government … I wanted to ask if you stand unequivocally against the IRGC, against the Islamic Republic of Iran that has killed 50,000 protesters, Abdul!”
Instead of a firm condemnation, El-Sayed dodged by ripping American foreign policy, warning against “regime change” and claiming the U.S. shouldn’t act as the “world’s policemen.”
Dashti slammed El-Sayed on X: “My people are dying and Abdul is giving me a lecture on the nuances of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East … JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION ABDUL!”
The confrontation quickly triggered a wave of leftist backlash, with online trolls apparently attempting to unmask and intimidate Dashti and his family.
“Since that day, people have threatened me, doxxed my friends, even harassed my family,” Dashti revealed in his follow-up video, taking aim at those who were targeting him. “Am I a Zionist plant? Do I work for the Rogers campaign? I don’t work for anyone. I’m just a Persian student and my family was hunted in the streets of Iran.”
Refusing to back down under fire, Dashti asserted, “So to all you detectives, yes, I’m a proud Christian conservative. I’m a member of College Republicans and yes I have met Mike Rogers. But none of that changes the fact that Abdul’s answer was terrible.”
Dashti also targeted far-left political streamer Hasan Piker, flashing his picture during the clip and warning him to “get my name out of your disgusting communist mouth.”
Concluding his scathing rebuke, Dashti fired, “And Abdul, maybe answer the question next time.”
UMich student @dashti_iman asked Abdul El-Sayed whether he unequivocally opposes the IRGC and Islamic Republic of Iran.
El-Sayed responded by whining about how much he hates America.
