“Indiana Jones” star Ke Huy Quan got emotional during his acceptance speech at the 80th Golden Globe Awards, sharing how he thought his time in Hollywood was over after it took over 20 years for him to land another role.

During the show Tuesday night, the 51-year-old actor took the stage after winning Best Supporting Actor in a motion picture for his role in the surprise hit “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Quan thanked the man who gave him his first break, director Steven Spielberg, who hired Quan as a child actor to play alongside Harrison Ford in the 1984 “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” film.

“I was raised to never forget where I came from and to always remember who gave me my first opportunity,” Quan shared as he was clearly overjoyed. “I am so happy to see Steven Spielberg here tonight. Steven, thank you!”

“When I started my career as a child actor in ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,’ I felt so very lucky to have been chosen,” he added. “As I grew older, I started to wonder if that was it. If that was just luck. For so many years, I was afraid I had nothing more to offer. That no matter what I did, I would never surpass what I achieved as a kid.”

“Thankfully, more than 30 years later, two guys thought of me,” the actor continued as he started to get choked up. “They remembered that kid. And they gave me an opportunity to try again.”

It was clear the actor was becoming emotional and holding back tears as he thanked the directors of the 2022 film, Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, for giving him a shot. The “Goonies” star said ever since he landed the role in their movie things have been “unbelievable.”

“…Thank you so, so much for helping me find my answer,” Quan shared. “You have given me more than I could have ever hoped.”

He closed out his speech by thanking the Hollywood Foreign Press for this “incredible” honor and said he wanted to thank the most important person in his life, his wife Echo, as he got choked up again.

“The one person that never stopped believing in me,” Quan shared, holding back tears. “My wife Echo, I love you with all my heart.”
