Former President Donald Trump acknowledged the miraculous nature of his brush with death on Saturday when a would-be assassin shot him in his right ear, narrowly missing his head, at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Trump noted that only the fact that he had turned his head slightly at the moment the shots were fired saved him from certain death.
“I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead,” Trump told <a href="//14592C1D-8032-4C41-95BD-717492154773/v" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Post</a> aboard his private plane on Sunday on his way to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Calling the attempted assassination a “very surreal experience,” Trump said, “The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this. He called it a miracle.”
Trump said he wanted to continue speaking after he was shot, but Secret Service agents hustled him off the stage, reminding him his safety was at stake and that he needed to go to a hospital.
Praising the Secret Service agents who tackled him as “linebackers,” he explained why, after they got him to his feet, he had insisted, “Wait, I want to get my shoes.”
“The agents hit me so hard that my shoes fell off, and my shoes are tight,” he said, smiling.
He continued by praising the counter-sniper who killed the would-be assassin: “They took him out with one shot right between the eyes. They did a fantastic job. &#8230; It’s surreal for all of us.”
“I just wanted to keep speaking, but I just got shot,” he asserted.
Pennsylvania GOP senatorial candidate David McCormick, who was seated in the front row behind Trump when the attack occurred, <a href="//14592C1D-8032-4C41-95BD-717492154773/v" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acknowledged</a>, “It was pretty clear quickly that this was a series of shots. And the president went down immediately and the Secret Service jumped on top of him. And then he got up and you saw the pictures you’re now seeing on TV where his fist came out in sort of a measure of, I think, defiance and reassurance, leadership. He really reassured people that he was okay. &#8230;  An inch difference and the president would have been dead. It was a very scary moment.”

On the heels of a tragic shooting in Utah that claimed the life of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, Stephen A. Smith took a rare detour from his usual sports commentary to deliver a sobering message on humanity, unity, and the role sports must play in a fractured America.
“We saw this man speaking &#8230; and we saw him struck by a bullet in his neck,” Smith said, not mincing words describing the heinous act that took place at Utah Valley University. A 31-year-old father of two was gunned down in broad daylight, in front of his wife and children. And the horror of it, Smith said, transcends politics. It’s about a life lost — a husband, a father, a fellow American — executed for simply expressing his beliefs.
“There&#8217;s a lot more love and a lot more brotherhood and sisterhood and humanity that goes on in this world that does it than doesn&#8217;t,” he stated. “Yet the few who are evil amongst us are the ones that screech and make the most noise. And it&#8217;s affecting us in a way where it&#8217;s getting to a point where you&#8217;re going to get scared to walk out in the streets. You&#8217;re going to get scared to show love and affection and even to say hello to your fellow man and woman, your neighbor.”
While Smith emphasized that Mad Dog Sports Radio is not a political soapbox, he made clear: “I don&#8217;t care what his political beliefs were. I don&#8217;t care what he felt. I care about the fact that a man was gunned down in front of two of his children who are 5 years of age or less. That he&#8217;s dead at the age of 31. That his wife is a widow. That his children are fatherless because his ideas and his beliefs differed from somebody else.”
That, he said, is the only thing that should matter. Not party. Not ideology. Humanity.
Smith blasted those online who celebrated Kirk’s death. “Shame. Shame on you,” he declared. For Smith, the very idea that someone could cheer the assassination of a man for his views marks a grotesque turning point in our moral compass.
“At some point in time, we got to remember that and remember to remind one another that there&#8217;s far more love in this world than hate and not allow evil and hate to dominate us and to strip us of what truly makes us the greatest nation in the world,” he declared. “It&#8217;s that mosaic that we live under, a willingness to embrace any and all and find a way to agree without being disagreeable. Not even because we may want to all the time, but because we know it&#8217;s what&#8217;s best for a society to be civilized and positioned to prosper. Someone forgot about that yesterday and murdered Charlie Kirk. Others forgot about it by parading online and celebrating an evil, vile occurrence.”
The ESPN host, unapologetically black and proud of his journey, highlighted moments of unity he experiences every day. “I see people looking at me and smiling and saying, ‘What’s up, Stephen?’ and they don’t look anything like me. And I don’t care — because they’re showing me love, and I’m showing it right back.”
In closing, he reminded listeners: “He&#8217;s gone at 31 just because he expressed thoughts that differed from somebody else apparently. And some might blame it because, ‘oh my God, he&#8217;s friends with the president’ and they may not be a Donald Trump supporter. I&#8217;m saying bump all that. He&#8217;s a human being living in the United States of America. This is America. We&#8217;re not supposed to condone stuff like this. We&#8217;re not supposed to say it&#8217;s okay.  I don&#8217;t give a damn who you are. Black, white, or anything in between. You&#8217;re a human being. That&#8217;s your fellow man and fellow woman out there.”

The committee was debating the Kayla Hamilton Act, legislation introduced by Rep. Russell Fry (R-SC) that would require background checks on Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs) before releasing them into U.S. communities. The bill is named in honor of Hamilton, who was brutally murdered in 2022 by Walter Javier Martinez, a 17-year-old illegal immigrant with known gang ties who had been placed in the U.S. without vetting.
Crockett, rather than focusing on the substance of the bill, lashed out at Republicans, accusing them of exploiting tragedies. “Stop just throwing a random dead person’s name on something for your own political expediency,” she said, in reference to Hamilton. Crockett didn’t stop there — she also accused the GOP of ignoring victims like those tied to Jeffrey Epstein and claimed Republicans only use tragic deaths when politically convenient.
Rep. Fry fired back, calling Crockett’s comments “disgusting rhetoric” and “shameful behavior.”
“Let me be clear: Kayla Hamilton was not just a random person,” Fry told Fox Digital. “She was a young woman with a family and a future.”
“Sadly, this is what we’ve come to expect from Democrats, who will take any opportunity to downplay the tragedy of Americans killed by criminal illegal aliens,” Fry continued. “I expect Mrs. Crockett to issue a full, public apology to Kayla’s family and to every American who has suffered because of her party’s reckless, open-borders agenda.”
Kayla’s mother, Tammy Nobles, voiced support for the bill, stating clearly: “The Kayla Hamilton Act is necessary to ensure background checks of unaccompanied alien children occur before they are released. If that had happened in the case of Kayla’s murderer, authorities would have known he was an MS-13 gang member.”
Martinez, who was sentenced to 70 years in prison, had a criminal history in El Salvador and MS-13 tattoos — details the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) failed to uncover or ignored before releasing him into the country. Later, he reportedly confessed to multiple additional murders and rapes.
The Kayla Hamilton Act aims to close these loopholes by <a href="https://fry.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=905">mandating</a>:

This from a man tapped to lead the Oxford Union, a society historically revered for its commitment to civil discourse and open debate.
Kirk, 31, a father of two and the founder of Turning Point USA, had become a lightning rod for the MAGA youth movement. He was in the middle of his “American Comeback Tour” when he was gunned down. His message — calling on students to challenge him face-to-face — was a hallmark of his commitment to real dialogue in a culture increasingly allergic to dissent.
Abaraonye had previously debated Kirk at the Oxford Union in May. Kirk, ever the civil opponent, reportedly told him afterward to &#8220;think about&#8221; their exchange.
In response to the explosive revelations, the Oxford Union scrambled into damage control. In a public statement, the institution wrote:

Two weeks after the brutal murder of 27-year-old Iryna Zarutska, former North Carolina Democratic Governor Roy Cooper finally broke his silence — only to face a firestorm of backlash for turning the tragedy into a political flex.
Rather than expressing straightforward sympathy or addressing public concerns, Cooper, who is running for U.S. Senate and would likely face Republican front-runner Michael Whatley in the general election, issued a campaign-style statement that many called self-serving and deflective. He wrote, “The murder of Iryna Zarutska is a horrible tragedy … I&#8217;ve been Attorney General and Governor, dedicating my career to putting violent criminals behind bars and keeping them there … It’s time Michael Whatley and the GOP get serious in Washington about funding our law enforcement, and that’s what I’ll do as Senator.”

It’s the most visually striking moment yet in Operation Pacific Viper, a rapidly escalating Coast Guard effort that has already seized more than 40,000 pounds of cocaine since its launch last month.
The Coast Guard said the operation involves a &#8220;surge&#8221; of cutters, aircraft, and tactical teams working with international partners to interdict drug routes from South America. The weekend strike came just seven days after a separate, unprecedented move: a U.S. Marine Corps strike team sank another suspected drug boat in the southern Caribbean Sea, which officials say was operated by Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan narco-gang.
That September 2 military strike — personally confirmed by President Donald Trump — marked the first direct lethal action against an alleged cartel vessel under Trump’s renewed war on narco-terrorism.
Speaking from the White House, Trump declared: “We just, over the last few minutes, shot out a drug-carrying boat … These came out of Venezuela. And there’s more where that came from.”
He added that the action followed a top-level briefing with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and warned of more strikes to come. Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed the statement, confirming the strike and noting the vessel was operated by a “designated narco-terrorist organization.”

Trump&#8217;s words weren’t bluster. They were backed by results.
In <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-week-without-murder-trumps-crackdown-restores-safety-to-washington-d-c?utm_source=chatgpt.com">just the first week</a> of Trump’s law enforcement surge — announced in mid-August as a direct federal intervention under the Home Rule Act—carjackings dropped 83%, robberies 46%, and car thefts 21%. For the first time in months, Washington, D.C., went a whole week without a single murder — almost unheard of in a city where violence had become routine.
Trump’s executive order declared a “Crime Emergency,” placing the city’s police department under the authority of Attorney General Pam Bondi. Hundreds of federal agents and more than 800 National Guardsmen were deployed in what the administration called “massive enforcement operations” against gangs, drug traffickers, and violent offenders.
At roughly the same time, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-grassley-launches-congressional-inquiry-into-code-pink-peoples-forum-over-ccp-ties?author=Mary+Margaret+Olohan&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=EXCLUSIVE%3A+Grassley+Launches+Congressional+Inquiry+Into+Code+Pink%2C+People’s+Forum+Over+CCP+Ties">launched a congressional investigation</a> into Code Pink and The People’s Forum, both of which have financial and ideological ties to the Chinese Communist Party. Grassley warned that these groups may be acting as unregistered foreign agents in violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). According to Grassley’s letter to the DOJ — obtained first by The Daily Wire — both organizations appear to be “funded and influenced by Mr. [Neville Roy] Singham and the communist Chinese government,” promoting CCP interests and potentially undermining U.S. policy.
Code Pink, whose co-founder Jodie Evans is married to Singham, has been tied to pro-CCP propaganda campaigns and even defended China’s detention of Uyghur Muslims. Unsurprisingly, it was Code Pink who showed up to harass Trump Tuesday night after the president’s federal crackdown began turning D.C. from a war zone into a functioning city again.
From cleaning up the streets to exposing foreign-backed radicalism, Trump isn’t just dining out in D.C. — he’s reclaiming it.
And based on Tuesday night’s staredown, he isn’t blinking.
