Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake (R) said on Tuesday that she was focused on winning her election and serving not only the immediate term, but another following that.

Lake responded to a question from a reporter who wondered whether, if former President Donald Trump were to ask her, she might consider leaving the Arizona governor’s mansion in just two years to run as his vice president on a 2024 ticket.

“If Donald Trump were to announce that he was running, what would your reaction be?” a reporter asked.

“My reaction would be elation,” Lake replied, saying that she would be “so thrilled” to see the former president make a third run at the White House. “And I would absolutely, whole-heartedly support him. We need President Trump back in office to fix what Joe Biden has screwed up.”

A CBS reporter threw in a follow-up question, asking, “Just a follow-up question if I may — if Donald Trump announces, as expected, to be president and you win the governorship of Arizona, you’re likely to be talked about as a VP candidate. Will you — do you plan to serve your entire term in Arizona, or are you open to being the VP?”

“Are you new covering this race, because we’ve talked about this before,” Lake replied. “We’ve talked about this, I’ve answered this question — I’m going to not only be the Governor of Arizona for four years, I’m going to do two terms and I’m going to be your worst fricking nightmare.”

“For eight years, and we will reform the media as well. We’re going to make you guys into journalists again,” she continued. “So get ready, it’s going to be a fun eight years. I can’t wait to be working with you guys for eight years.”

Trump, who made an appearance on Monday evening at a rally in support of Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance (R), was expected to potentially announce a 2024 presidential bid — but instead, he said he wanted to keep all of the focus on the important election at hand. He said that he planned to make a “big announcement” from his Florida home on November 15th.
