Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who has not been seen publicly since new details came out about the federal investigation into her citizenship status, emerged from her cocoon briefly to beg her supporters for financial support.
Omar, ignoring the fact that the investigation began under former President Joe Biden’s administration, has consistently referred to any and all questions about her immigration status as politically motivated and has accused President Donald Trump of attacking her specifically because of her race, gender, and religion — and because she has been one of his more vocal critics.
In her video message, Omar thanked her supporters for donations that she said would be used to help her “fight Trump and his administration for trying to intimidate me and so many other people right before the midterm elections.”
“We know that they’re running scared, we’re not going to be intimidated, we’re not going to be silenced, we’re not going to be scared,” she added, promising, “I’ll be out there campaigning alongside all of you and making sure that we beat back all of this and that we win in the midterms — win the House, win the Senate and hold this administration accountable.”

“Thank you so much again and please continue to support us,” she concluded. “It is going to be a very expensive and challenging time and so we appreciate whether you’re able to send $5, $10, $20. … Thank you.”
Omar’s Washington, D.C., home was the subject of a federal search warrant and was raided over a week ago, with Homeland Security Investigators taking documents and electronics from the home. Reports indicate that agents were looking for documents related to her father’s immigration and naturalization — in part because Omar’s claim to obtaining citizenship at the age of 17 hinges on the information contained in those documents. No record of Omar’s father’s citizenship could be found at all during a 2023 search by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Omar has since demanded that they return everything that was taken.
