There’s a good chance Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) believes that comedian Adam Carolla is just mad because he can’t date her. However, that doesn’t change the central point behind his recent comments during an appearance on “Hannity.”
The “Truth Yeller” podcast host made his observations on the February 3 episode. “Here’s a quick thought experiment: If AOC was fat and in her 60s, would anyone listen to another thing she ever said?” Carolla wondered aloud.
Hannity knew immediately there’d be backlash. “Oh boy. You’re going to step in that one,” the host replied.
Despite the warning, “The Man Show” comedian pushed on with his thoughts. He insisted AOC is “young, vibrant and beautiful,” which means “everyone’s always putting a camera and a mic in her face,” despite the fact that her “opinions are idiotic 95 percent of the time.”
“I don’t think, if she was a middle-aged, heavyset woman, anyone would care what she had to say,” Carolla argued.
“I’m not so sure I agree,” Hannity said in response to Carolla’s musings. “Now, I will say this: You can criticize her ideas — and I do, I think the Green New Deal is madness and insanity — but she’s got the whole Democratic Party following her.”
Social media backlash against Carolla was swift and fierce.
“Women can’t exist in public without offending misogynists like Adam Carolla,” one Twitter user fumed. “First AOC was too young, then she was ‘just a bartender,’ and now people only listen to her because she’s cute? F*** Adam Carolla.”
“I had words: if Adam Carolla were thin, good-looking and young, he would still be a flaming a**hole,” another person retorted.
Others shared a widely-circulated AOC tweet in which she expressed how conservatives couldn’t stand her because they were secretly in love with her and frustrated over unrequited feelings. Twitter users explained that Carolla’s criticisms proved that the congresswoman could be correct in her assessment.
“If Republicans are mad they can’t date me they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend’s feet,” AOC shared. “Ya creepy weirdos.”
“Adam Carolla on Hannity proving AOC correct,” one person said in reference to the tweet.
Carolla recently sparked outrage over comments he made about COVID-19 mitigation strategies. The comedian blasted Bill Maher’s audience for clapping over the idea of returning to “normal” after two years of masking, lockdowns, and social distancing.
“Watching the Bill Maher show. Now you p***ies clap when Bill talks about getting back to normal. Shut the f*** up and admit you were wrong,” Carolla tweeted.
This was in response to Maher and New York Times opinion writer Bari Weiss declaring they were “done with COVID.” Weiss also said she personally knew liberals who felt the same way but were afraid of voicing their opinions out loud.
There’s a good chance other people agree with Carolla in his assessment of AOC too, but don’t feel like they can say as much out loud. The “Truth Yeller” host is used to Twitter disagreeing with him in a public way.
