At an event in early May titled “Debate: Israel’s War on Hamas is a Just War,” political commentator Briahna Joy Gray reacted to the harsh reception from the audience she got for her pro-Hamas arguments, reportedly saying, “It’s disgusting. I hope someone drops a bomb on this entire building.”
Gray, cohost of The Hill’s Rising and former National Press Secretary for the Bernie Sanders 2020 presidential campaign, shared the stage with moderator Konstantin Kisin and fellow panelists Michael Moynihan, Eli Lake, and Jake Klein.
During the debate, Gray insisted that the terrorist group Hamas, whose members have stated they intend to kill every Jew on the planet, has no interest in killing all the Jews in Israel, only wishing to establish a state “like what we have here in the United States.”
“When Hamas is talking about eliminating Israel, it’s not talking about killing all the Jews … it’s about eliminating the idea of a Jewish state, ending a Jewish state, ending an ethno-national state, having a state or like what we have in the United States of America,” Gray claimed.
People are treating this as just stupidity, but her body of work suggests something far more sinister.

After video of the exchange in which Gray talked about “ending a Jewish state” was posted, Gray slammed Kisin on Twitter, saying he “interjected at every turn.” Brianna Wu, former candidate for the U.S. House in Massachusetts, reacted, “That moderator has a name, [Konstantin Kisin]. And he has a lot more integrity than you do. Your ‘forceful argument’ is just whitewashing Hamas. You treat them like they’re the safety patrol and they’re bloodthirsty rapists whose literal charter is to genocide all Jews.”
Kisin then tweeted, “Oh, I don’t mind her jibe. She struggled on the night (stormed off crying, threw mic at the organisers after failing to answer a single question) and reading the comments on the video even pro-Palestine people were embarrassed by her behaviour. Leaving your echo chamber is painful.”
Kisin later added, “DEI Barbie is upset. Imagine participating in a debate about Israel and Palestine. Imagine answering literally zero of the questions you were asked. Imagine talking over everyone else and being disrespectful to fellow panellists and the moderator. Imagine storming off stage afterwards, screaming that everyone is racist, telling the moderator ‘I’m never doing this again’ and throwing the microphone at the debate organiser. Imagine then complaining online that your abject failure is the fault of the organisers, moderator and crowd.”
