A new report from Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee found that over 99% of illegal immigrants released into the U.S. from January 2021 to March 2023 under President Joe Biden ended up staying in the U.S.
The report, from the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement, details how little deportations have taken place under Biden and says that few of those released into the U.S. were actually screened for persecution claims. The report said the total number of illegal immigrants released into the U.S. during the time in question was 2,148,738 and that over 204,000 were released through “illegal categorical parole programs.”
“Thanks to relentless efforts by the Committee and its Immigration Subcommittee, Biden’s DHS has finally caved and provided crucial data on the border crisis,” the House Judiciary Committee posted on X.

The report, called “The Biden Border Crisis: New Data and Testimony Show How the Biden Administration Opened the Southwest Border and Abandoned Interior Immigration Enforcement,” was released by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA).
“Between January 20, 2021, and March 31, 2023, the Biden Administration has removed from the United States only 5,993 illegal aliens who were encountered at the southwest border and who were placed in removal proceedings before an immigration judge during that time. In other words, of the at least 2.1 million aliens released into the United States since January 20, 2021, the Biden Administration has failed to remove, through immigration court removal proceedings, roughly 99.7 percent of those illegal aliens,” the report said.
The Republicans said that the statistics provided to them by the Department of Homeland Security indicated that “there is virtually no enforcement of our immigration laws.”
The report added that a great number of individuals who had been labeled asylum seekers by DHS head Alejandro Mayorkas had not been screened for whether they actually faced persecution or not. According to lawmakers, the amount of illegal immigrants screened for persecution for asylum was only six percent.

“Even the Biden Administration has previously acknowledged the loophole of the low credible fear standard, as it incentivizes mass illegal immigration into the United States by aliens whose claims most likely will ultimately be denied because they are economic migrants and not asylum seekers fleeing persecution,” the report said.
The numbers do not include a flood that game around the expiration of Title 42 in May and other recent surges at the border.
