<p>On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton, ever-interested in trying to fawn obsequiously over any women’s issue, proved that although she’s getting up in years, she still can offer an opinion easily disproven by facts, championing a report from the &#8220;newsroom reporting at the intersection of gender, politics and policy” that trumpeted, “Beginning in 2022, women’s faces will appear on quarters for the first time.”</p>
<p>Clinton tweeted, “2022 is the first year women&#8217;s faces will appear on U.S. quarters. It&#8217;s about time.”</p>

<p>One problem: Clinton’s beloved Washington Post titled an article on March 24, 2003, “<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/2003/03/24/helen-keller-quarter-coins-a-breakthrough/cc62233f-e325-4882-817c-625272284744/">Helen Keller Quarter Coins a Breakthrough</a>.” The article stated:</p>
<blockquote><p>Helen Keller, the activist, writer and lecturer left blind and deaf by childhood illness, graces the side of a new <em>“</em>Alabama<em>”</em> quarter &#8212; her image stamped alongside her name written in Braille &#8212; issued by the U.S. Mint last week.</p>
<p>It is the first coin in circulation to feature Braille. &#8230;</p>
<p>The coin is the 22nd state quarter the Mint has issued since it began the series in 1999. The design won out over thousands of proposals submitted to a contest sponsored by Alabama&#8217;s former governor Don Siegelman (D). The Mint issued the coin last week, offering it for sale on its Web site and formally launching the coin today. But Bailey said several more weeks of circulation likely will be needed before area residents can begin to find the coin in their pockets.</p></blockquote>
<p>Ironically, in May 2013 an event was held at Christie’s auction house to celebrate the 2013 Spirit of Helen Keller Gala, organized by Helen Keller International, at which Clinton <a href="https://hauteliving.com/2013/05/spirit-of-hellen-keller-gala-hillary-clinton/360832/">accepted </a>the Helen Keller Humanitarian Award.</p>
<p>The news site Clinton linked to, 19<sup>th</sup> News, <a href="https://19thnews.org/2021/05/here-are-the-pioneering-women-who-will-be-on-new-quarters/">wrote</a> on May 20, 2021, then updated on Monday the following:</p>
<blockquote><p><em>Beginning in 2022, women’s faces will circulate through the nation’s currency on quarters — something long overdue, according to Rep. Barbara Lee, a California Democrat who has been working on this legislation since 2017. </em></p>
<p><em>“I wanted to make sure that women would be honored, and their images and names be lifted up on our coins. I mean, it’s outrageous that we haven’t,” Lee said. “Hopefully the public really delves into who these women were, because these women have made such a contribution to our country in so many ways.” </em></p></blockquote>
<p>The goddess of liberty also appeared on a quarter that was minted from 1916-1930 in a coin named the Standing Liberty quarter.</p>
<p>Maya Angelou will be featured on the first new quarter, starting circulation in February; a quarter featuring astronaut Sally Ride will follow.</p>
<p>Lee added, “I think it’s important that the public understands and knows how to weigh in on this&#8230;.That’s a mammoth kind of effort that we’re mounting, but we’re getting the word out. &#8230; I think it is a good organizing tool that communities should use, and have children kind of tell stories and do the research and come up with who they think would be the woman that should be submitted&#8230;.It’s about time that people who exchange currency and coins understand that women deserve things. This is long past due.”</p>
