On Thursday night, failed 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton spoke at Rutgers University. According to Radar Online, she pulled down a speaker’s fee of $25,000. That’s a massive drop from her old speakers fees, back before she ran for president again. In fact, Hillary reportedly earned less from her Rutgers speech than Snooki did for her speech in 2011 – she pulled down $32,000.
Oh, how the corrupt have fallen.
But Hillary did use the opportunity to bash Americans again for their supposed sexism. As Charlie Spiering of Breitbart News reports, Hillary explained:
I have often thought that I am a kind of a Rorschach test for people who are trying to make sense, not just of me personally, but of women’s roles and women’s expanded opportunities, in not only America but around the world… I would hope that people would spend a little bit of time actually looking behind the image or the picture, and that is I think is what we hope for all of us, we want to be known as who we are and judged positively and negatively based on what we actually do and not by what people said we did.
She also called 2016 “traumatic.”
Now, the reality is that 2016 was not a referendum on women’s roles around the world. It was a referendum on Hillary Clinton. But Hillary always thought that she could avoid her personal unpopularity by hiding behind her intersectional identity. It didn’t work, so she lost.
But she’ll still hide behind that intersectional identity if it allows her to pretend that American sexism is responsible for her defeat, rather than her own infinitely awful candidacy.
One thing’s for sure: that analysis isn’t worth $25,000.
