Hillary Clinton: I Refuse To Believe Donald Trump Will Be Re-Elected

Hillary Clinton gave an exclusive interview to “CBS Sunday Morning” on Sunday, setting the stage, it seems, for a larger role in the upcoming 2020 presidential campaign, and positioning herself as a foil to President Donald Trump’s re-election.

According to her chat with “Sunday Morning” host Jane Pauley, Clinton is still sore over her loss to Trump (who knew?) and the failed 2016 Democratic presidential nominee firmly believes that Trump won’t be re-elected.

“There should be an impeachment inquiry opened. I don’t care who you’re for in the Democratic primary or Republican,” Clinton told Pauley. “When the president of the United States has taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and by that, defend the American people and their interests uses his position to in effect extort a foreign government for his own political purposes, I think that is very much what the Founders were worried about.”

“What happens if another four years of the Trump Administration?” Pauley then asked, suggesting that Trump could be re-elected and that the President retains a firm base of support even though Congressional Democrats are conducting an impeachment inquiry.

Clinton, it turns out, refuses to believe that’s even a possibility.

“I don’t accept that or believe that will happen,” she responded. “I believe there were many funny things that happened in my election that will not happen again.”

As the Daily Wire noted yesterday, Clinton followed up her comments by remarking that the President is “obsessed’ with her, and called Trump an “illegitimate president.”

“I’m hoping that both the public and press understand the way Trump plays the game … he knows he’s an illegitimate president,” Clinton claimed. “I believe he understands that the many varying tactics they used — from voter suppression and voter purging to hacking to the false stories — he knows that there were just a bunch of different reasons why the election turned out like it did.”

Clinton may believe that “voter suppression,” “purging,” and “hacking” led directly to her loss, but the facts don’t seem to be in her corner. The probe into whether the Trump campaign illegally coordinated with Russian officials to impact the 2016 presidential election’s outcome turned up no evidence of collaboration, and Clinton has routinely cited outdated and debunked statistics on voter supression in states like Wisconsin and Georgia.

She may have moved away from her more signature excuses Hillary Clinton: I Refuse To Believe Donald Trump Will Be Re-Elected sexism and racism  — Hillary Clinton: I Refuse To Believe Donald Trump Will Be Re-Elected but Clinton is still failing to acknowledge her own role in her 2016 loss.

Trump is also likely to be re-elected. Although Democrats have a crowded field of probable 2020 candidates, most of the fabled front-runners are skidding in popularity. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has taken a tumble in polls recently, as has presumptive nominee former Vice President Joe Biden, and early assessments done on the impeachment question are concerning for Democrats obsessed with completing the process by December so that their chosen candidate can use the inquiry on the campaign trail; it’s just not that popular.

Some more fringe commentators seem to believe that may be the opening Hillary Clinton has been waiting to re-inject herself into the Democratic nomination process. Clinton has been on a full-court media press over the last week as talk of impeachment heats up, according to Zero Hedge, and she seems to want to be the face of the anti-Trump “resistance” as it works on taking its scalp.
