Jeremy Renner’s family gave an update to fans on Tuesday about the Marvel star’s recovery after the snowplow accident that landed him in the hospital in critical condition.

The 52-year-old actor’s sister Kym Renner said the “Hawkeye” star was progressing, calling him a “fighter” and more after he suffered major injuries in an accident on New Year’s Day near his home in Nevada, People magazine reported.

“We are so thrilled with his progress,” Renner’s sister shared. “If anyone knows Jeremy, he is a fighter and doesn’t mess around.”

“He is crushing all the progress goals,” she added. “We couldn’t feel more positive about the road ahead.”

A source close to the actor also shared that “he is making positive progress and while he has a long road to recovery, he is overwhelmed by the showing of love and support,” the outlet noted.

“The Hurt Locker” star started out the 2023 year by being airlifted to the hospital after he suffered “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries,” in the freak accident, a statement from his publicist Samantha Mast shared. He underwent multiple surgeries.

Mast later told CNN the superstar was making progress but remained in the Intensive Care Unit.

“Jeremy is making positive progress and is awake, talking and in good spirits,” the actor’s rep shared. “He remains in ICU in critical but stable condition. He is overwhelmed by the showing of love and support. The family asks for your continued thoughts while he heals with his close loved ones.”

Later, reports surfaced that Renner was helping a stranded motorist get out of the snow when the Kässbohrer PistenBully snowplow he was operating ran over his leg, the New York Post noted.

“He was helping someone stranded in the snow,” Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve told the Reno-Gazette Journal. “He is always helping others.”

Two days later, the actor posted a selfie on Instagram thanking fans for all their love and support, as previously reported.

“Thank you all for your kind words,” Renner shared. “I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.” His post included a praying hand emoji.

On January 7, a video surfaced on social media showing the star reportedly being transferred out of the ICU after the accident on January 1.
