One defiant Israeli hostage has been hailed as a “hero” on social media after she appeared to stare down the Hamas terrorist who was supposed to escort her to waiting Israeli officials.

Rimon Kirsht, 36, stopped and stared directly at the armed terrorist who put a hand out to guide her toward freedom, briefly exchanging words with him and making it clear that she did not want to be touched.

“How much of a hero is Rimon Kirsht?” Yoseph Haddad asked. “In Hamas’ captivity, she was with her partner. When terrorists came to her yesterday before she was released, she wouldn’t agree to be released without him until they forced her. During the moments they were transferred to the Red Cross, she looked the terrorist in the eye, walked upright, and hugged Merav, who was released by her side. She did not placate Hamas or the Red Cross representative with a fake smile. She marched strong and proud. A true heroine!”

“A friend asked me if anything good happened today and I said no, then I saw this,” Yael Bar Tur posted in response.

“This woman is my friends [sic] cousin. She is a queen,” Tracy-Ann Oberman added. “Held in Hamas hell tunnel for 50 days and she just wouldn’t be cowed by these rapists. QUEEN. The balls and chutzpah to swagger off like this. We are not worthy.”

Kirsht was reportedly released — over her own objections — without her husband, Yagev, who still remains in the custody of Hamas terrorists.

“She was with Yagev throughout the entire captivity,” one of Yates’s relatives told Israel Hayom. “It was easier for them. When they told her she was being released, she didn’t want to go. She told them, ‘Either we leave together, or I stay here, and no one gets released.’ Hamas terrorists told her, ‘You have two options: Either get released willingly or we’ll drag you on the floor.’ They didn’t leave her a choice. She looks much skinnier than she was before she was captured.”

Photos released a short time after she was returned to Israel — 53 days after she was initially kidnapped and taken into Gaza — showed her finally being reunited with family members.
