Here Are The Wild Tweets About Sexual Assault That Got Jose Canseco Canned From NBC

Former MLB stud Jose Canseco will not see his contract renewed for the 2018 season with NBC Sports California after firing off some politically incorrect tweets about sexual assault on Tuesday.

Canseco sought to weigh in on the growing movement of women speaking out about sexual misconduct by telling the world that it’s a “turn-on” when women molest him. He also highlighted what he calls racism against ugly men.

Here are the tweets (which Canseco has since deleted):

As reported by CBS Sports, “NBC Sports California has announced that he will no longer appear on their television station as part of their Oakland Athletics coverage. Canseco, who spent two stints as an outfielder for the A’s, spent this season working as a studio analyst for the station’s pre- and postgame coverage. Though he had not yet officially signed on for the 2018 season, he was expected to return in the same role.”

“Jose Canseco is no longer an employee with NBC Sports California,” said the network in a statement. “His agreement with us ended after the 2017 season. We certainly don’t agree with his comments, which do not reflect the values of our network or our team partner.”

The A’s also distanced themselves from Mr. Canseco:

Canseco wondered aloud on Twitter why anyone cares about his tweets at all. “[W]hy is everyone so worried about what I am saying,” he wrote, “I’m just a simple guy trying to pay my bills.”

After deleting the tweets, he posted:

The former MLB star also told the San Francisco Chronicle that the posts were merely written in jest. “If people can’t take a joke, that’s ridiculous. What I’m saying really has no meaning. Those tweets don’t even make any sense, they’re a bunch of riddles,” he said.
