‘Have Fun In Prison!’: RNC Remembers What Investigators Said Of Michael Cohen’s Lies

   DailyWire.com

The Republican National Committee on Wednesday tried to remind people what has been said about the lies of Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former attorney.

In an email sent Wednesday morning before Cohen was set to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, the RNC noted what prosecutors from the Southern District of New York and the Special Counsel’s Office have said about Cohen’s propensity to lie.

“His instinct to blame others is strong,” SDNY prosecutors said of Cohen.

“Despite this, they found that his motivation to commit crime was not borne from ‘naiveté, carelessness, misplaced loyalty, or political ideology,’ but ‘were knowing and calculated acts’ that Cohen executed in order to ‘profit personally, build his own power, and enhance his level of influence,’” the RNC added.

The Special Counsel’s Office said Cohen’s lies were “deliberate and premeditated,” and that he lied in a “deliberate effort to use his lies to set the tone and shape the course of his talks” before his previous testimony with Congress.

The RNC accused House Democrats of holding this hearing — which they deemed “a media spectacle” — to “distract from the historic progress President Trump is making overseas with North Korea.”

The RNC is certainly trying to diminish the impact of Cohen’s testimony. Yesterday, the organization released a short video that includes clips of Cohen praising Trump. In stark contrast to what Cohen said Wednesday in prepared testimony, the attorney formerly praised Trump as a “unifier” and a “compassionate,” “empathetic,” “kind,” “humble,” “honest” man. On Wednesday, Cohen will call Trump a “racist,” a “conman,” and a “cheat,” who has been involved in “illicit acts.”

In December, Cohen was sentenced to three years in jail for tax fraud and previously lying to Congress (he only received two months for the latter crime).

NBC reports that Cohen intends to testify that Trump has a history of shady business practices, including “deflat[ing] the value of his properties in some cases to reduce his property taxes.” He also claims to have “irrefutable” evidence of Trump’s “illicit” behavior, including a copy of a check Cohen says Trump wrote from his personal account to reimburse him for payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels to cover up an affair and copies of financial statements from 2011 through 2013, among other items.

Cohen also says Trump pursued a real estate project in Moscow during the election “because he never expected to win the election.” Cohen also said Trump never personally told him to lie, but that “Mr. Trump had made clear to me, through his personal statements to me that we both knew were false and through his lies to the country, that he wanted me to lie.”

When Cohen claims to have information that will hurt Trump, the left-wing media treats him like a hero and truth-teller, but when he’s not making those claims the same media outlets will use anonymous sources to try and smear Cohen. Expect these outlets to take everything Cohen says today as the absolute gospel so long as it makes Trump look like a criminal.
