In the midst of the revelation that the huge number of Palestinians killed in the Hamas-instigated violence in Gaza were members of Hamas, a new fact has arisen that contradicts the Hamas narrative of events: On Tuesday, a Gaza doctor told the Associated Press health official that the Hamas claim that an 8-month-old baby died from Israeli tear gas was inaccurate. He attested that the baby, Layla Ghandour, had a preexisting medical condition which caused her death.
The doctor preferred to remain anonymous; according to the Times of Israel he was not allowed to disclose medical information to the media. The Los Angeles Times stated the doctor said the baby had a heart condition. The Gaza Health Ministry (run by Hamas) had initially counted Ghandour’s death among Palestinians killed Monday.
The IDF’s Arabic spokesman Avichay Adraee tweeted Israel has “several testimonies” that dispute the initial claims regarding the baby’s death.
According to The Los Angeles Times, Ghandour was taken to the scene of the Palestinian attempt to breach the borders of Israel by her 12-year-old uncle. The baby’s mother had reportedly stayed home to take a nap.
