Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) sounded the alarm on Thursday that as the Islamic religion becomes more influential within the ranks of the Democratic Party, the platform will become increasingly more anti-Israel.

“There, of course, is a lot of controversies,” Brooks told host Jeff Poor while appearing on his Alabama local WVNN radio show. Poor had inquired about the quarrel between President Donald Trump and progressive Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) after the duo was blocked from entering Israel.

“Usually there is not much controversy with respect to Israel. Usually the United States Congress is overwhelmingly close to 100 percent, if not 100 person, in support of recognizing Israel as a long-term American ally, and that we have a mutual defense relationship,” Brooks continued. “Unfortunately, we now have people in the United States Congress who view Israel as an enemy and that makes for an entirely different mix of conversation.”

After reports surfaced that Omar and Tlaib were denied entry into the Jewish state over their avowed support of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, Trump commended the decision.

However, both Tlaib and Omar subsequently attacked Israel for its “inhumane” treatment of Palestinians and further accused the country of being “racist” and “oppressive.” Omar later suggested during a press conference that Israel was neither a democracy nor a U.S. ally.

Members of the Democratic Party overwhelmingly voiced their support for the freshman congresswomen and condemned Israel for the decision.

Brooks acknowledged that there was a trend on the Left with lawmakers questioning the longstanding U.S.-Israeli alliance.

“I think it’s based on the growing influence of the Islamic religion in the Democratic Party ranks,” the Alabama congressman said. “Keep in mind, Muslims more so than most people, have great animosity towards Israel and the Jewish faith.”

“As you have more and more Muslims in the United States, as they gain greater and greater influence in elections, particularly in Democratic Party primaries – then you’re going to see more and more people like Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and company that are anti-Israel,” he continued. “That brings an entirely different viewpoint into the United States Congress.”

The two freshman lawmakers are America’s first Muslim congresswomen and their time in office has been embroiled in allegations of anti-Semitism and anti-American sentiments. Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN) is currently the only Muslim congressman and was the second Muslim to be elected to the United States Congress.

“I think you’re going to see this influence in the Democratic Party grow and grow and grow over time, but ultimately become the dominant influence within the Democratic Party, where the Democratic Party will become very strongly anti-Jewish and anti-Israel,” Brooks said. “I don’t know of any Republicans at any level of government who are anti-Israel or anti-Jewish, but that’s the Republican side.”

“I think it’s a bad trend for the Democratic Party,” he added. “But it is nonetheless where the Democratic Party is headed.”
