Go Away, Hillary: Abortion Is A Human Right

By  Paul Bois

Hillary Clinton, the woman who never just goes away, is now demanding the State Department declare abortion — what she refers to as “Reproductive Rights” — a human right.

According to LifeNews, the former secretary of state endorsed legislation that would have the State Department include abortion in its annual Human Rights report, saying the omission was “dangerous” while calling for a universal right to abortion.

“Important legislation introduced yesterday: The Reproductive Rights Are Human Rights Act would correct the Trump administration’s dangerous decision to remove reporting on reproductive rights from the State Department’s annual reports on human rights practices around the world,” she tweeted.

“By requiring annual reporting on women’s access to basic health care like contraception, safe abortion, and maternal health care around the world,” she wrote, “Congress can make sure the rights of women and girls will no longer be up for grabs in each election.”

“I introduced reproductive rights sections to the reports while I was secretary of state because access to reproductive health care is a protected human right affecting women’s right to life, equality, and freedom from inhumane treatment,” she said.

Last spring, Michael Kozak, ambassador for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, told reporters that the State Department would no longer defend “Reproductive Rights” as a human right because abortion is not a human right.

“Under the previous administration and this one and the one before that. We have never taken the position that abortion was a right under – a human right under international law,” Kozak said. “This is supposed to be internationally recognized human rights, and it’s an issue on which – some countries prohibit abortion, some countries, like our own, pretty much no restriction on it, and we don’t say one of those is right and one of those is wrong. We don’t report on it because it’s not a human right.”

Kozak said that the Obama administration originally did not intend to equate reproductive rights with abortion rights, only that it became that over time.

“Over the last few years, groups on both sides of that issue domestically have started to use the term, and both seem to think it does include abortion and then argue about it,” said Kozak. “It’s not a diminishment of women’s rights or the desire to get away from it. It’s a desire to get away from using a term that has several different meanings that are not all the ones we intend.”

President Trump made history earlier this year when he delivered a pro-life message at the State of the Union address, declaring that unborn children were made in the image and likeness of God.

“There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our nation saw in recent days,” President Trump said. “Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments from birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world. And then, we had the case of the Governor of Virginia where he stated he would execute a baby after birth. To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb. Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life.”
