Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doubled down Wednesday on her bizarre claim that Republicans have become “obsessed” with her boyfriend’s feet.
Ocasio-Cortez, after spending some time in Florida, shared a video of her boyfriend’s feet as they walked through a parking garage, saying, “Give the people what they want!”

“So we recently went to Florida, where Republicans developed an obsession with Riley’s feet,” Ocasio-Cortez began, taking off her mask.
“So … Give the people what they want!” she said, prompting laughs from her boyfriend as he continued to walk and the video showed only his feet.
Ocasio-Cortez was criticized for vacationing maskless in Florida while the people in her home district in New York City faced a record-shattering wave of new COVID-19 cases.

Ocasio-Cortez’s decision to hang out in the red state of Florida amid the historic number of coronavirus cases in the city that she represents comes after she repeatedly attacked Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for briefly going to Cancun, Mexico, earlier this year as the state of Texas dealt with a storm crisis.
In one exchange with Cruz on Twitter, Ocasio-Cortez responded to Cruz by tweeting: “Ted, this is pretty rich coming from someone who fled their own home (and responsibilities) during an environmental crisis to cross the border and seek refuge in Mexico.”
“Maybe Mexico shouldn’t let YOU in the next time you try to run away from your job to sip umbrella drinks in Cancún,” she continued.
But then one person tweeted about the sandals Ocasio-Cortez’s boyfriend was wearing in one of the viral photos.

And the New York Congresswoman parlayed that into her own narrative, claiming that Republicans were “creepy weirdos” who were either obsessed with her boyfriend’s feet or angry that they couldn’t date her.
“If Republicans are mad they can’t date me they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend’s feet. Ya creepy weirdos,” she tweeted. “It’s starting to get old ignoring the very obvious, strange, and deranged sexual frustrations that underpin the Republican fixation on me, women,& LGBT+ people in general. These people clearly need therapy, won’t do it, and use politics as their outlet instead. It’s really weird.”
Ocasio-Cortez spent some of her time in Florida criticizing Republican Governor Ron DeSantis of being absent while his state face record numbers of new COVID-19 cases, only to learn later that he had been accompanying his wife to her cancer treatments.
DeSantis, for his part, said he absolutely understood why Ocasio-Cortez would want to vacation in a free state like Florida — and he said she was far from alone.
“Look, I think if you — if I had a dollar for every lockdown politician who decided to escape to Florida over the last 2 years… I’d be a pretty doggone wealthy man, let me tell ya,” DeSantis said.
