Lucasfilm, which fired Gina Carano, one of the stars of “The Mandalorian,” in February, is now including her in their Emmy campaign.

“On Sunday, a poster surfaced from Disney, which owns the Star Wars production company, promoting cast members including Pedro Pascal and Giancarlo Esposito for awards contention. Carano is listed under the best supporting actress category,” CNET reports.

In February, Disney was reported to have cut ties with Carano, allegedly because of Carano’s social media posts.

In September 2020, Carano was asked to show “solidarity” with trans folks by adding her “preferred pronouns” to her Twitter bio. Carano jokingly wrote “Beep/Bop/Boop,” triggering social justice warriors to call for her to be fired. As The Daily Wire reported, Carano responded by stating clearly she was against bullying but also fired back at people accusing her of trans people by tweeting, “I don’t think trans people would like all of you trying to force a woman to put something in her bio through harassment & name calling EVERYDAY for MONTHS. Such as ‘Racist’ ‘Transphobe’ ‘B****’ ‘Weirdo’ ‘I hope you die’ ‘I hope you lose your career’ ‘[you’re] fat, you’re ugly.”

“Maybe they should be mad at the mockery so many of you made of them,” she added. “I sure would be, if I were them. Maybe wiping the slate clean without the hate speech towards others isn’t a bad idea at this point.”

As The Daily Wire reported, the Carano post that stirred up the most controversy was her screenshot of another person’s post that she shared on Instagram which compared America’s current polarized culture to Nazi Germany.

Lucasfilm, which is owned by Disney, announced in a statement, “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Social media noted that another actor starring in “The Mandalorian,” Pedro Pascal, had also made a reference to the Holocaust, but no action had been taken by Disney. On June 20, 2018, Pascal posted two images, one of a concentration camp in Germany in 1944 and another of immigrant children “in cages” that he suggested was taken in 2018, hashtagged “#ThisIsAmerica.”

Disney faced widespread backlash after the announcement of Carano’s firing.

“Disney’s firing of Carano sparked instant widespread backlash online with ‘#CancelDisneyPlus’ rocketing to the very top of Twitter’s trending news list,” The Daily Wire noted. “In response to Carano’s firing, critics noted how Disney rehired a director that had been fired over disturbing sexually explicit tweets, Disney’s business dealings in communist China, and other controversies that the company has faced in recent years.”

Two days after the announcement that Carano had been fired, The Daily Wire announced it would partner with Carano to produce and star in an upcoming film exclusively for Daily Wire members.

“The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered,” Carano stated. “I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”

Daily Wire co-founder and Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro added, “We could not be more excited to be working with Gina Carano, an incredible talent dumped by Disney and Lucasfilm for offending the authoritarian Hollywood Left. This is what Daily Wire exists to do: provide an alternative not just for consumers, but for creators who refuse to bow to the mob. We’re eager to bring Gina’s talent to Americans who love her, and we’re just as eager to show Hollywood that if they want to keep cancelling those who think differently, they’ll just be helping us build the X-wing to take down their Death Star.”
