The former chef of Great Britain’s Princess Diana ripped into the Netflix series “The Crown” after it was reported the series will show scenes of Diana’s open casket.

In reality, when public showings and her state funeral occurred in September 1997, Diana’s coffin was closed while adorned with a royal standard flag. Diana died on August 31, 1997, from injuries sustained in a car crash in Paris while fleeing paparazzi. Her partner, Dodi Fayed, and the chauffeur, Henri Paul, died in the crash while Diana died at a local hospital.

Darren McGrady, the personal chef for the royal family between 1982 and 1993, blasted the reported upcoming scene in which actress Elizabeth Debicki lies in an open casket. He tweeted, “Princess Diana’s casket was closed when she laid in rest at the Chapel Royal, St James Palace. I know, I was there. This latest from The Crown is sick!”

Another scene in the series reportedly shows medics attempting to rescue Diana at a Paris hospital. “There is blood everywhere — on the surgeons’ gowns and gloves, and on the door,” an onlooker told The Sun.

“Princes William and Harry never saw their mother dead in a coffin and they shouldn’t have to watch this,” one source told The Sun. “Nor should the British public. The bosses went way over the top to chase ratings. Everyone was very uncomfortable doing the shoot. It is obscene and should be banned from broadcast.”

Simone Simmonds, a psychic who befriended Diana after they met at The Hale Clinic, was also outraged. “This is sick, sick, sick. Can they get any lower? At this rate, why don’t they just go and dig up her grave. These scenes aren’t entertainment, it‘s just ghoulish,” she said.

“It’s obviously terrible for Diana’s children to have to see that again. It’s insensitive,” said Debbie Frank, Diana’s astrologer. “I feel Diana’s death and the crash was the biggest shock our generation. It had such a huge impact across the national psyche. I guess the makers of The Crown feel they are entitled to show a re-enactment of scenes leading up to her death and that it has dramatic impact. But relatives would think otherwise.”

Prince William would find the controversial scenes repulsive, Ken Wharfe, Diana’s former bodyguard, told The Sun. Wharfe added that Diana’s former husband King Charles would be “appalled.”
