<p>&#8220;Fox &amp; Friends&#8221; co-host Steve Doocy suggested this week that former President Donald Trump may be helping President Joe Biden by skipping the Republican Party&#8217;s first presidential primary this week, arguing that by doing so he opened the door for Biden to skip debating Trump if Trump becomes the Republican Party nominee.</p>
<p>Doocy&#8217;s remarks on Monday come after Trump cited a CBS News national poll at the start of the week that showed him at 62%, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at 16%, and everyone else in the low single digits to explain why he did not plan to make a showing at the debates.</p>
<p>He added that he believes that voters already know who he is and concluded by stating: “I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!”</p>
<p>Doocy said, &#8220;Unfortunately, by skipping the debates, Donald Trump may actually be helping Joe Biden because he’s giving Joe Biden an excuse for not debating Donald Trump.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;That’s one of the things that Ronna McDaniel told the former president when she was trying to get him to do the first debate,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;But he said, nope, not going to do it.&#8221;</p>
<p>Co-host Brian Kilmeade responded, &#8220;<span style="font-size: 16px;">I don’t know how that would be, though. How could Joe Biden rationalize not going against Donald Trump?&#8221;</span></p>
<p>Doocy answered, “Because if Donald Trump says, &#8216;everybody knows me, I don’t need to do it&#8217;, then Joe Biden goes, &#8216;everybody knows me, I&#8217;m president&#8217;.”</p>
<p>&#8220;Joe Biden would love to have an excuse not to be able to debate,&#8221; co-host Ainsley Earhardt added.</p>
<p>“I mean, if [Biden] doesn&#8217;t want to do the debate, I could totally understand it because he can’t get through a sentence,” Kilmeade added. “If you watched him over the weekend, just slur his way through that mini summit and who knows what’s going to happen in Hawaii.”</p>
<p>Doocy concluded, &#8220;Joe Biden would love to see Trump not do it, then he&#8217;s got a perfect [response]: &#8216;I don&#8217;t have to do it either then, he didn&#8217;t do it!'&#8221;</p>
