The decade's most triggering comedy
Former Virginia Republican Congressman Denver Riggleman is working with Hunter Biden’s legal team as the president’s son faces allegations of corruption and influence peddling.
Riggleman, who served one term as the representative for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District before losing a primary election to Rep. Bob Good, confirmed to CBS News on Tuesday that he was working with Hunter’s legal team on “data across the spectrum.”
“I and my forensics, data, and telephony team are conducting data investigations and analysis for Hunter Biden’s legal team,” Riggleman said after he was seen at a meeting with Hunter’s lawyers at a hotel in Washington, D.C., on Monday.
Riggleman was invited to the Independence Day party at the White House alongside Hunter and President Joe Biden.
“Truth matters. When I took this job, I wasn’t pro-Hunter or anti-Hunter. I am pro-data and facts,” Riggleman said on Twitter. “Forensics make clear that considerable information linked to Hunter Biden is questionable.”
“The American people deserve the truth. Sourcing, expert data analysis and facts-based insights are the only way,” he added. “I look forward to the truth coming out.”
In a statement, Kevin Morris, a lawyer for Hunter, suggested that there was a lot of misinformation related to Hunter’s laptop and the corruption allegations against him.
“Denver has been assisting us with data analysis since late last year,” Morris told CBS. “He is an invaluable resource and we have made tremendous strides in untangling the massive amount of corruption and disinformation involved in this story. There will be much more coming to the public.”
Accounts of Hunter’s laptop were first published by the New York Post in October 2020, just before the presidential election. The reports were first heavily restricted, but most major outlets eventually confirmed the veracity of the laptop months after the election.
Riggleman, a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, was an investigator for the January 6 Committee. He wrote a book on the investigation called “The Breach,” which documented the Democrat-run committee’s work.
Hunter, who recently negotiated a plea deal over tax-related charges, is also under fire for allegedly using his father’s influence to make money abroad. A newly disclosed WhatsApp message appears to show Hunter threatening a Chinese businessman by invoking his father.
The Bidens are accused of taking millions in payments from multiple countries, including China and Ukraine. According to Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, the foreign payments in part brokered by the Biden family could top $40 million.
