Florida Democrats have once again taken to social media to voice their complaints about Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) — and their beef with him on this particular occasion appears to be … his inability to control the weather.

After severe storms — and even some tornado activity — rocked the Sunshine State, DeSantis declared a State of Emergency. Florida Democrats responded with a post on X that seemed to blame the Republican governor for failing to stop the storms, suggesting that he was a hypocrite for supporting environmental protection.

“Ron: ‘We must protect our environment and the great outdoors,'” they quoted him as saying, adding a still photo of some of the storm damages. “Florida right now: #StateoftheState.”

DeSantis’ rapid response director Christina Pushaw responded, “You want to turn Florida into California, where entire towns burned to the ground due to uncontrolled wildfires. Was that Gavin Newsom’s fault or is it only Republican politicians who can control the weather?”

“Democrats think ‘protect our environment’ means ‘pay us more taxes and we will stop tornadoes from happening. pinky promise!'” she added.

Chaya Raichik added, “I didn’t realize the Governor controls the weather and can stop storms.”

“I’m confused, should Ron DeSantis tell mother nature to stop naturing? Or?” Brendon Leslie asked.

“Florida Democrats are right. The environment is a jerk. It’s time to make the Earth pay,” Donny Ferguson joked.

“Next time there’s a big hurricane or tornado I’ll remind the governor to get out the giant fan so we can blow it back out to sea,” Courtney Knill suggested.

DeSantis Press Secretary Jeremy Redfern pushed back as well, saying, “Florida Democrats are not okay. They’ll turn any tragedy into a political talking point. Anyway … Earlier today, @GovRonDeSantis signed an Executive Order to ensure there are no unmet needs as severe weather continues to move across Florida. Stay safe out there, everyone.”

A number of homes in Florida sustained severe damages after a tornado hit popular Spring Break hotspot Panama City Beach.
