A federal court rejected former President Donald Trump’s attempt to block his top aides from testifying in the federal criminal investigation into his efforts to stay in office following the 2020 presidential election.

“A federal appeals court panel has rejected Trump’s bid to block top aides from testifying to special counsel Jack Smith’s Jan. 6 investigation,” POLITICO reporter Kyle Cheney tweeted. “Several close Trump advisers are the subject of this order, which was part of a rushed series of overnight filings.”

CNN reported that Trump had sought to block testimony from former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, former national security adviser Robert O’Brien, former Department of Homeland Security official Ken Cuccinelli and former top White House advisers like Stephen Miller and Dan Scavino.

The former president faces three other criminal investigations, including multiple felony charges in a 34-count indictment in Manhattan, a federal investigation into his handling of classified material after leaving office, and an investigation in Georgia over his efforts to stay in office after the 2020 election.
