<p>On the campaign trail in 2024, JD Vance joked about his children&#8217;s egg consumption.</p>
<p>&#8220;These guys actually eat about 14 eggs every single morning, is that right?&#8221; then-Senator Vance joked in a Pennsylvania grocery store.</p>
<p>Running out to the store multiple times a week for eggs is enough to crack even the most hard-boiled parent. Fortunately for the vice president, it&#8217;s about to be a lot easier for the growing Vance flock to make breakfast.</p>
<p>For the first time ever, the Naval Observatory will host a chicken coop on its grounds, The Daily Wire can first report. Built by family-owned Carolina Coops, the Vance&#8217;s new addition was designed to match the architectural themes of the historic vice presidential residence. The coop was built at no cost to the American taxpayer, a source familiar with the project noted.</p>
<p>Matt and Gnon DuBoise founded Carolina Coops in 2008, with the goal of building &#8220;coops that are as functional as they are beautiful.&#8221; The company and its founders have become minor social media sensations, particularly on YouTube, where Matt shares parenting advice, coop design insights, and expounds on the benefits of raising chickens.</p>
<p>“Seeing our work become part of a historic residence like the Naval Observatory is a milestone I will never forget,&#8221; DuBoise told The Daily Wire. &#8220;As a small business owner, this is a true &#8216;American dream&#8217; moment for me and my family.&#8221;</p>

<p>On Saturday, the Vance family held the second annual &#8220;Camp VPR&#8221; — an abbreviation for &#8220;Vice President&#8217;s Residence&#8221; — an event that brings children and families to the Naval Observatory for games, crafts, and more. This year, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, local 4-H students were on hand to teach attendees about the newly installed coop.</p>

<p>The Vances join a growing number of American families building backyard chicken coops, a trend fueled in part by the rising popularity of the &#8220;Make America Healthy Movement.&#8221; <a href="https://americanpetproducts.org/industry-trends-and-stats#:~:text=According%20to%20the%202025%20National,That%20Own%20a%20Pet%20(millions)">According to the American Pet Products Association</a>, between 10 and 12 million American households keep chickens in their backyards.</p>
