<p>President Donald Trump took a moment on Wednesday to roast Democrats over their unwavering support for men in women&#8217;s sports, declaring that it was one of the reasons he had won re-election last November.</p>
<p>Trump&#8217;s administration has been leading the charge on that particular issue, signing executive orders stating first that the United States government only recognizes two genders — male and female — and second, that biological males shall not be allowed to compete on teams and in athletic events that are designated for women and girls.</p>
<p>Democrats in Congress have been fighting against Trump on that issue and the president paused on Wednesday — during his Oval Office meeting with Irish Prime Minister (Taoiseach) Micheál Martin — to reflect on how ridiculous he thought that was, given the widespread support among everyday Americans, regardless of party affiliation, for keeping men out of women&#8217;s and girls&#8217; spaces.</p>

<p>&#8220;Who would allow men to play in women&#8217;s sports? And they&#8217;re still fighting it, they&#8217;re still &#8230; It&#8217;s gotta be a 95% issue,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;But they&#8217;re on television this morning, I see this person, a Democrat, say, &#8216;We should have the right &#8230; no, no. Men should not be allowed – they&#8217;re hurting women. They&#8217;re hurting women. Very badly, they&#8217;re hurting women &#8230; And they&#8217;re also demeaning women.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;But who would want these things?&#8221; he continued. &#8220;Everything is transgender. Everybody transgender. That&#8217;s all you hear about. That’s why we won the election in record numbers.</p>
<p>&#8220;But very importantly, now, it is what it is, the Democrats should get with us and come up with good tax policy so that Ireland and other countries can&#8217;t take our businesses away from us,&#8221; he said, pivoting back to the topic at hand.</p>
<p>Trump was able to capitalize on a number of issues that crossed party lines in order to win the 2024 presidential election, from illegal immigration and the economy to radical gender ideology and men taking over women&#8217;s athletics.</p>
