As the Left glorifies Europe as a socialist Mecca of “tolerance” and “diversity,” European governments are aggressively confronting their Muslim populations with anti-terror legislation and anti-migrant measures.
During the first Democratic primary debate, socialist not-Hillary distraction candidate Bernie Sanders even stated, “Those are some of the principles that I believe in, and I think we should look to countries like Denmark, like Sweden and Norway, and learn from what they have accomplished for their working people.”
Guess what? Denmark is moving far to the right. The Northern European country’s pushback against Muslim refugees is a Leftist’s nightmare.
“In September, for example, authorities published an ad in Lebanese newspapers carrying an unmistakable message to foreigners who might think about seeking asylum: Don’t come to Denmark,” reports The Washington Post, “Now, the country is debating another and even more extreme step: The government is considering a law that would allow authorities to confiscate jewelry from refugees entering the country. The proposal is almost certain to pass Parliament.”
The American Left’s hypocrisy is beyond comprehension. Hot Air explains:
It’s a pretty clear message. Don’t come here expecting to slide onto easy street. We’re not handing out the same benefits to uninvited immigrants that we do to our own citizens. And if you still want to stay, you’d best learn to speak our language and assimilate into our culture because you are the visitors and this is our home.
But we’re the nasty, evil ones here in America, right? At least we haven’t started jacking up immigrants for their bling… yet.
As reported in The Daily Wire, Denmark is not the only country in European forcefully combating the threat of Muslim jihadists.
Sweden, the supposed nexus of Leftist identity politics, has just overwhelmingly voted to ban the burqa.
“Women wearing a burqa in Switzerland will now be fined a whopping £6,500 after an overwhelming number voted to bring in ban,” reports Daily Express, UK. The scope of the new legislation is far-reaching. The Express notes:
Muslim women can no longer wear the full-body garment in shops, restaurants or public buildings and anyone caught flouting the ban could be struck with a £6,500 fine. The local government of Ticino approved the referendum after the Swiss Parliament ruled that the ban did not violate the country’s federal law.Two in three voters in the canton backed the move in an overwhelming result for a referendum, in the wake of heightened terrorist alerts across Europe. The law which MPs voted for only applies to veils which covers the body from head to foot worn by the 40,000 Muslim women in Switzerland and also applies to all tourists visiting the area.
In the wake of Islamic attacks against soft targets in Europe, most notably in Paris, Madrid, and London, European governments are taking the jihadist threat seriously. According to Quartz, “In 2004, in a highly controversial law, the secularist country forbade students in state-run schools to display any form of religious symbols, including veils, crosses or Jewish skullcaps,” adding, “In 2011, France went even further, forbidding concealment of people’s face in public — through a burqa, niqab (a version of the veil that leaves a slot for woman’s eyes), but also masks or balaclavas…The penalty for the offense is $205 and can be forced to take a class on French values.”

Denmark, according to The Washington Post
Belgium, Italy, and Spain have similar bans. Barcelona banned burqas and niqabs in the city’s municipal buildings in 2010. In 2013, officials in Italy even attempted to propose the so-called “anti-mosque” legislation, making it nearly impossible to build new Islamic prayer houses in the densely populated city of Lombardy.
France has taken the battle against jihad to sights unseen. In fact, France plans on shutting down up to to 160 mosques in the next few months. French President Francois Hollande announced a state of emergency after the attacks, bolstering security measures across the country. Authorities argue that the mosques pose a threat to national security, operating as hubs of radicalism.
“While President Obama responds to the most deadly terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11 by urging Americans to “reject discrimination” and embrace gun control, French authorities are actually taking the real and present danger of radical Islamic terrorism seriously,” reported The Daily Wire’s James Barrett. “Over the last few days, they kicked down doors, closed three mosques (with plans to close potentially more than a hundred), and in the process found an alarming number of weapons, ammo, and terrorist propaganda. In an effort to “close the net on Islamic extremists,” French authorities have begun the process of shutting down radicalized mosques and raiding locations suspected of housing Muslim extremists.”
