Entire New York Daily News Social Media Team Fired, Puts Up Final Perfect Tweet

A Clemson University student who was awarded $5.3 million after being falsely accused of sexual assault must continue to fight for his award money.
Andrew Pampu was awarded the money in April 2022 after he sued his accuser, Erin Wingo, her father, David, and her ex-boyfriend, Colin Gahagan, for defamation. But last month, South Carolina’s Court of Appeals <a href="https://law.justia.com/cases/south-carolina/court-of-appeals/2025/6112.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">overturned</a> the ruling and set a dangerous precedent —that quasi-judicial campus tribunals carry the same weight as jury trials.
A jury unanimously agreed that Pampu had been defamed and ordered Erin to pay $700,000 in actual damages and $450,000 in punitive damages, her father to pay $230,000 in damages, and Gahagan to pay $700,000 in actual damages and $220,000 in punitive damages for defamation. Erin and Gahagan were also ordered to pay damages for civil conspiracy, with Erin ordered to pay $2 million in actual damages and Gahagan ordered to pay $1 million, Greenville News <a href="https://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/news/local/2022/04/12/former-clemson-student-awarded-millions-defamation-lawsuit-appeal-filed-defendants/7225351001/">reported</a> in 2022.
The three appealed the ruling, even though the lawsuit kicked off after Gahagan admitted to Pampu that he had helped Wingo falsely accuse him.
“You’re innocent,” Gahagan wrote in a January 2017 text message, months after Pampu had been suspended from Clemson based on Wingo’s claims. “I lied in that hearing. Erin wanted to have sex that night. Get your brothers away from me and never touch your [sic] life again and I’ll come through with the truth that she lied. I deleted the texts from that night prove [sic] she was f****** crazy. You’re innocent. Just pull your f****** boys off me and never touch me again. It’s sad that you were like a brother to me and this happened[.] You’re innocent. Send this to your lawyer. Just don’t call me into the hearing and leave me alone. You’re welcome. That’s all I ask. You’re innocent bud.”
But the Court of Appeals overturned the unanimous jury ruling, in part by claiming the trial that led to the ruling was unnecessary because the case had already been litigated by Clemson University administrators.
This, despite the fact that campus tribunals provide little to no due process for accused students, including discovery or even the right to properly question their accuser and call witnesses. The Court claimed that “fundamental fairness requires the court to give preclusive effect to the administrative hearing board’s February 29, 2016, findings.”
One of Pampu’s attorneys, Kimberly Lau, blasted the court for its ruling.
“This ruling dangerously distorts the law and undermines the role of juries,” said Lau, who has been representing falsely accused students for more than a decade. “Andrew Pampu was defamed, denied due process, and suspended from Clemson based on false testimony. A jury heard all the facts and unanimously ruled in his favor. That justice has now been upended by a misapplied legal doctrine that values a flawed university proceeding over a full and fair trial.”
Pampu and his attorneys say they will continue to fight for justice following the disappointing ruling.
“After ten exhausting years, including seven spent defending myself and three more in the appellate process, I remain committed to standing up for the truth,” Pampu said. “When I received the favorable unanimous jury verdict in March 2022, I was overwhelmed with relief.”
“Since then, the case has continued through the courts, and while the recent appellate ruling is discouraging, I believe it raises serious questions about access to justice and the weight given to jury findings,” he added. “I will continue to stand up for what is right, not only for myself, but for anyone who finds themselves fighting to clear their name and move forward with their life.”
Pampu’s struggles began nearly a decade ago, in early September 2015, when Wingo pursued him for sexual activity leading up to a fraternity party where Gahagan, her on-again, off-again boyfriend, was ignoring her, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/he-was-accused-of-sexual-assault-by-a-woman-whose-boyfriend-later-admitted-lying-he-just-won-a-5-3m-settlement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Wingo propositioned Pampu and the two ended up having sex outside near a shed. Following the encounter, Wingo complained about Gahagan and ended up crying over him for the rest of the night, sending him numerous text messages.
The next morning, she texted Pampu to ask him not to tell Gahagan about their night together. When she admitted to Gahagan what she had done, she claimed not to remember most of the night, so Gahagan told her that if she couldn’t remember, it was rape. Even though Wingo clearly remembered the night in text messages to multiple people, she told investigators she didn’t, even deleting her text to Pampu. When Pampu showed the text to campus investigators, they ignored it.
Wingo didn’t report the alleged sexual assault to Clemson until two weeks after she and Pampu had engaged in sexual activity. Even though all sides were precluded from retaliation, Clemson allowed Gahagan to call Pampu a “rapist” around campus. Pampu also reported other incidents of harassment and retaliation by Gahagan and Wingo, all of which were ignored.
Given Clemson’s apparent bias even before the hearing, it was no surprise that Pampu was suspended. Months later, Gahagan admitted that it was all a lie. Gahagan also shared text messages between himself and a woman who knew Wingo’s father. Gahagan told the woman that Wingo had lied about being raped.
In addition to suing his accusers, Pampu also sued Clemson University, with whom he reached an undisclosed settlement in 2019.

‘Dangerous Precedent’: Court Sides With University Over Jury in False Rape Defamation Case

Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer has won his lawsuit against the woman who falsely accused him of sexual assault back in 2021.
The accuser, Lindsey Hill, was ordered to pay Bauer $310,000 for violating a settlement agreement two years ago. The earlier agreement prohibited either party from falsely claiming the other had paid to settle, but Hill breached that agreement when she repeatedly claimed publicly that Bauer had paid her.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel Crowley awarded Bauer $220,000 for Hill’s 22 violations of the earlier agreement, along with $68,939.55 in attorney fees, $16,634.52 in interest, and additional costs of $4,257.95 for a total of $309,832.02.
Bauer’s agent, Rachel Luba, made clear on X that “the only money ever exchanged between” Bauer and Hill will be the &#8220;$309,000 in damages&#8221; Hill will need to pay Bauer.
“So to sum up: Lindsey Hill has now been ordered to pay Bauer, and has been arrested and is being charged with assault and abuse with an outstanding warrant for her arrest. Bauer’s other false accuser is currently being charged with committing fraud against him. And most importantly, Bauer has never been arrested, charged with a single crime, or paid even a cent to an accuser,” Luba wrote.

Luba referred to Hill’s <a href="https://bustednewspaper.com/kentucky/hill-lindsey-christina/20250426-223000/">arrest</a> in late April for multiple offenses, including third-degree assault of an EMS official, public intoxication, driving on a suspended license, disorderly conduct, and animal cruelty. The U.S. Sun <a href="https://www.the-sun.com/news/14180569/trevor-bauer-accuser-lindsey-christina-hill-arrested/">reported</a> at the time that Hill became “drunk and disorderly” at a restaurant and became violent after she was arrested and placed in a patrol car, attempting to break the divider. Police wrote in their report that she then had an “emergency medical situation” and EMS officials were called. While attempting to treat her, Hill assaulted the officials. The animal cruelty offense came from Hill leaving her dog inside a hot car without water.
Bauer commented on Hill’s arrest by sarcastically calling her Major League Baseball’s “superstar.”
“Apparently, the more likely you are to get drunk and actually commit crimes, the more they actually back you, whether it’s getting you back on the field or using you to take someone else off the field,” Bauer added.

The original settlement in 2023 came after Bauer sued Hill for defamation. She countersued, alleging sexual assault. Hill had previously accused Bauer of sexual assault in 2021, but he was never arrested or charged with any crime. The L.A. District Attorney’s office released a statement in 2022 explaining why it declined to prosecute Bauer.
“After a thorough review of all the available evidence including the civil restraining order proceedings, witness statements and the physical evidence — the People are unable to prove the relevant charges beyond a reasonable doubt,” the DA’s office <a href="https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/story/2022-02-08/trevor-bauer-will-not-face-criminal-charges-following-sexual-assault-allegation">said</a>. “Those charges were assault by means likely to cause great bodily harm, sodomy of a sleeping person and domestic violence.”
In August 2021, a Los Angeles judge denied Hill’s attempt to receive a permanent restraining order against Bauer, Outkick reported, with the judge saying her claims were “materially misleading.”
The MLB quickly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mlb-suspends-dodgers-pitcher-trevor-bauer-two-seasons-over-sexual-assault-allegations">suspended</a> Bauer for 324 games after Hill made her accusations – even though no investigation had been conducted. For comparison, MLB outfielder Marcell Ozuna was actually arrested for domestic violence against his wife in 2021 but received only a 20-game suspension and has been playing for the Atlanta Braves ever since.
Hill alleged that Bauer sexually assaulted her and repeatedly punched her in the face, vagina, and buttocks, and also choked her to the point of losing consciousness several times. In October 2023, after the first settlement agreement, Bauer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/next-victim-star-pitcher-for-the-dodgers-trevor-bauer-reveals-texts-from-his-accuser-following-settlement">revealed</a> text messages Hill sent to her friends before she even met the former MLB star, suggesting she plotted to get money from him.
“‘Next victim. Star pitcher for the Dodgers,&#8217;” Bauer says in the video while showing a picture of Hill’s text. “A text Lindsey Hill sent to a friend before she ever even met me. ‘What should I steal?’ she asked another, in reference to visiting my house for the first time. The answer? ‘Take his money.’ So how might that work? ‘I’m going to his house Wednesday,’ she said, ‘I already have my hooks in. You know how I roll.’ Then, after the first time we met, &#8216;Net worth is 51 mil,&#8217; she said. ‘b—h, you better secure the bag,&#8217; was the response.”
“But how was she going to do that?” Bauer continued. “‘Need daddy to choke me out,’ she said. ‘being an absolute whore to try to get in on his 51 million,’ read another text. Then, after the second time we met, former [San Diego] Padres pitcher Jacob Nix told her, ‘You gotta get this bag.’ ‘I’ll give you 50,000,’ Lindsey replied. Her AA sponsor asked her at one point, ‘Do you feel a tiny bit guilty?’ ‘Not really,’ she replied.”
Bauer said at the time that the text messages were “deliberately and unlawfully concealed from me and my legal team” until he sued Hill for defamation and the case entered discovery. Bauer also played a video that Hill had taken just before she left Bauer’s house the morning of the alleged assault, showing her in bed next to him, smirking, and with no visible injuries.
Bauer also said that Hill approached him for money, but after his legal team showed her the texts and video, she asked for a settlement instead, which included no money. Bauer agreed, so long as he was able to publicly discuss the case.
The MLB didn’t welcome back Bauer after Hill’s lies were exposed. It didn’t welcome him back after his second accuser was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/woman-who-accused-trevor-bauer-of-sexual-assault-now-charged-with-extorting-him">charged with extorting</a> him in 2024. 
Bauer played in the Mexican Baseball League and won the Pitcher of the Year award in 2024. Now he plays professional baseball in Japan. 
Now that Hill has been ordered to pay Bauer nearly $310,000 for her lies, will the MLB finally welcome back this star pitcher? Again, Marcell Ozuna faced a much shorter suspension after actually being charged with domestic assault against his wife, and he is currently playing in the MLB, so why was Bauer, who was falsely accused, blackballed?

Trevor Bauer Wins Lawsuit Against False Accuser. Will The MLB Take Him Back?

People in the country illegally will no longer have access to taxpayer-backed mortgages, the Trump administration announced on Wednesday.
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner wrote on X that the access will be halted, the day after a HUD official notified Federal Housing Administration (FHA)-approved mortgage lenders of the change.

The official notice to lenders said that “non-permanent residents” will also be ineligible for the low-income home loans that are backed by taxpayers, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/03/26/us-news/trump-admin-bars-illegal-migrants-and-non-permanent-residents-from-receiving-taxpayer-backed-mortgages/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“Currently, non-permanent residents are subject to immigration laws that can affect their ability to remain legally in the country,” Deputy Assistant Secretary for Housing Jeffrey Little wrote in a <a href="https://www.hud.gov/sites/default/files/OCHCO/documents/2025-09hsgml.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to the lenders. “This uncertainty poses a challenge for FHA as the ability to fulfill long-term financial obligations depends on stable residency and employment.”
Little didn’t know how many non-permanent residents have received FHA mortgages, but said the practice would stop immediately.
“In the past, FHA’s residency requirements have required Mortgagees to document the Borrower’s lawful residency status demonstrating long-term financial stability and eligibility for federal programs,” Little wrote. “FHA does not retain citizenship or residency data from the loan application and therefore does not maintain information on the number of non-permanent residents who have received FHA-insured loans under past policies.”
“This update ensures that FHA’s mortgage insurance programs are administered in accordance with Administration priorities while fulfilling its mission of providing access to homeownership,” he added.
The Biden administration ordered FHA mortgage lenders to provide loans to non-permanent residents who were part of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, but HUD’s new policy will block those recipients as well as those who have pending asylum claims.
HUD is not the only federal department that has provided mortgages to illegal immigrants. Between 2020 and 2024, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) reportedly spent $22.6 billion on illegal immigrants, including cash payments for cars and home loans, The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hhs-spent-more-than-22b-on-illegal-immigrants-including-home-loans-and-cars">previously reported</a>.
Watchdog organization OpenTheBooks <a href="https://openthebooks.substack.com/p/5f0bfa8c-91b1-4477-baa5-b98ecf340a76" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found</a> in February that HHS’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) had spent the money, noting that the grants  “acted as giant magnets for those seeking to cross the border and claim asylum.”
In ORR’s 2023 Congressional Budget Justification, the agency suggested expanding its mandate to include unaccompanied minors, Ukrainian and Afghan children, and full-time college or technical school students designated as refugees. It also wanted to remove the requirement that refugees obtain economic self-sufficiency “as quickly as possible.”

Trump Admin Bans Illegal Immigrants From Getting Taxpayer-Backed Mortgages

A Texarkana, Texas, man has been arrested after he was caught on camera allegedly driving his ATV into a Tesla and damaging other Teslas in the area on Tuesday.
Demarqeyun Marquize Cox, 33, was arrested after he was recognized in a video of a ramming incident recorded by one of the Teslas he allegedly attacked, the Texarkana, Texas, Police Department <a href="https://www.facebook.com/texarkanapolice/posts/we-arrested-33-year-old-demarqeyun-cox-this-afternoon-after-he-allegedly-damaged/1073511681480249/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said on Facebook</a>. Cox is accused of damaging multiple vehicles in separate incidents across the city.
“The first report came from the Golden Palace restaurant on Summerhill Road, where surveillance footage from the car itself captured a guy on a mini four-wheeler intentionally ramming a parked Tesla at full speed. While officers were searching for the suspect, another call came in reporting damage to a Tesla in the Lowe’s parking lot,” the police department said. “Shortly after that, Officer Blake Lummus spotted Cox riding a mini four-wheeler near Summerhill and New Boston Roads and recognized him as the suspect in the earlier video. After being stopped, Cox initially gave a false name but was quickly identified and taken into custody.”
After he was arrested, the police department received another report of a damaged vehicle, which allegedly occurred before Cox was stopped.
“So far, Cox has only been charged with one count of felony Criminal Mischief and Failure to Identify. However, officers are working now to figure out if Cox is responsible for the two later incidents. If they determine he is, additional charges may be filed,” the police department said. “He is currently being held in the Bi-State Jail as the investigation continues.”
Footage of the first incident shows a man believed to be Cox riding a run-down 4-wheeler headfirst into the side of a Tesla before backing up and leaving the scene.

Cox, who is 5-foot-2 and weighs nearly 450 pounds, left visible damage to the driver’s door, the car’s owner, Virita Carstaffin, <a href="https://www.ktbs.com/news/texarkana/texarkana-man-accused-of-running-mini-4-wheeler-into-teslas/article_e90d4b93-0e21-4e5e-8de3-0c37564d9f9f.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> KTBS. Carstaffin told the outlet she was inside the Golden Palace restaurant when the attack occurred, and provided a picture of the damage to the outlet, saying she will likely have to spend more than $1,000 to replace the front door.
Shawn Vaughn, Texarkana, Texas Police Department PIO, told KTBS that when Cox was stopped, “Based on what they had seen in the video, they knew for a fact that he was the one who at least hit the initial Tesla.”
Cox has been charged with felony criminal mischief resulting in damage between $2,500 and $30,000 and failure to identify. He’s being held on a $105,000 bond, the outlet reported.
Tesla owners have been the victims of numerous crimes since President Donald Trump took office, with vandals and arsonists apparently attacking the vehicles because Tesla is owned by Elon Musk, who is helping Trump cut government spending.

Texas Man Arrested After Video Allegedly Shows Him Ramming ATV Into Tesla

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem toured El Salvador’s notorious Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), where she was shown suspected members of Venezuela’s dangerous Tren de Aragua gang who were deported from the United States.
Noem posted a video from her tour on X on Wednesday, adding a warning to criminal illegal immigrants still residing in the U.S.
“I toured the CECOT, El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center,” Noem wrote on X. “President Trump and I have a clear message to criminal illegal aliens: LEAVE NOW. If you do not leave, we will hunt you down, arrest you, and you could end up in this El Salvadorian prison.”
In the video, Noem tells immigrants not to come to the U.S. illegally and that the prison is “one of the tools in our toolkit.”

Noem appears in the video standing in front of a massive prison cell filled to the brim with tattooed men in white prison pants with their heads shaved. Men can be seen standing behind her, as well as sitting on three levels of shelves.
CECOT is infamous for housing members of dangerous Central and South American gang members – and for its dehumanizing conditions, such as brutality and overcrowding, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/03/16/us-news/first-flight-of-250-migrant-gang-members-arrive-in-el-salvador-to-be-held-in-notorious-mega-prison/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Inmates are provided only minimal meals of beans and pasta, with rival gangs fighting regularly over the scarce resource. Inmates are also crammed into overcrowded cells nearly 24 hours a day.
The conditions are deliberate in an attempt to deter would-be gangsters.
Noem toured the prison with Héctor Gustavo Villatoro, El Salvador’s Minister of Justice, before she met with President Nayib Bukele to negotiate to send more alleged gang members from the United States.
The CECOT, which opened in 2023, currently holds 15,000 inmates but can hold up to 40,000, with as many as 65 to 70 in each cell, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/noem-tour-notorious-el-salvador-prison" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Prisoners are not allowed outside, and they cannot have visitors. The prison has no educational programs.
In February, Bukele offered to house criminal illegal immigrants for a “relatively low” fee after Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the country, The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/el-salvador-offers-to-house-american-criminals-in-its-prisons" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> at the time.
“We have offered the United States of America the opportunity to outsource part of its prison system,” Bukele said at the time.
“We are willing to take in only convicted criminals (including convicted U.S. citizens) into our mega-prison (CECOT) in exchange for a fee,” he continued, adding that the fee “would be relatively low for the U.S. but significant for us, making our entire prison system sustainable.”

Kristi Noem Tours El Salvador’s Gang Prison Before Threatening To Deport More Criminals

Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) reactivated its Instagram account just minutes before the terrorist group Hamas began slaughtering innocent Israelis on October 7, 2023, a new lawsuit alleges.
Israeli Columbia students and family members of the victims of the October 7 attack are suing numerous anti-Israel groups and individual members, accusing them of “aiding and abetting” the terrorist group Hamas. The <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SGz224raVR8mHMzC6q-6EUiNcBKD6BSK/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lawsuit</a>, filed Monday in federal court, names Mahmoud Khalil and others, seeking to hold them accountable for Hamas’ terrorism.
“Defendants in this case are Hamas’ propaganda arm in New York City and on the Columbia University campus,” the lawsuit states in its introduction. “We know this because they advertise themselves as such. Their self-described acts in furtherance of their goals to assist Hamas have included terrorizing and assaulting Jewish students, unlawfully taking over and damaging public and university property on Columbia’s campus, and physically assaulting Columbia University employees.”
The most explosive claim in the lawsuit alleges that the SJP reactived its dormant Instagram account just three minutes before the deadly October 7 attacks began, and included a screenshot of the organization saying, “We are back!” on October 6, 2023. The October 7 attacks began around midnight eastern time. This, the lawsuit alleges, means that the defendants “had prior knowledge of the October 7 attack.”
The 79-page complaint includes a lengthy explanation of how the various campus organization interact, beginning with a 2010 National Students for Justice in Palestine (NSJP) Convention organized by American Muslims for Palestine (AMP). The convention brought together the SJP chapters operating across American colleges and universities and created the NSJP to “control the management, financing, and messaging of SJP Chapters across the country,” according to the lawsuit.
Another group included in the lawsuit is Columbia Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), which purports to be run by Jewish persons who support the Palestinians and the boycott, divest, and sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel. The lawsuit alleges that SJP and JVP created Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) in 2016 to gain support from various student groups for the BDS movement.
Within Our Lifetime (WOL), another organization being sued, allegedly “serves as AMP/NSJP’s chief operating partner and ally throughout New York City as a whole,” according to the lawsuit. People associated with the groups, including Nerdeen Kiswani, Cameron Jones, and Mahmoud Khalil, are also named in the lawsuit. Jones became <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/09/06/us-news/columbia-student-who-wanted-humanitarian-aid-for-anti-israel-protesters-now-teaching/">Internet famous</a> after standing behind a protester who demanded “humanitarian aid” for violent anti-Israel protesters who took over a campus building last spring, and Khalil is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rubio-rips-censorship-advocates-for-saying-pro-terrorist-foreigners-have-first-amendment-rights">being deported</a> for supporting and promoting the protesters’ violent tactics. Kiswani runs WOL.
About half of the lawsuit contains allegations of activities the plaintiffs claim are pro-Hamas, including the organizations’ “Day of Resistance” and “Day of Rage,” promotion of which includes materials created by AMP/NSJP “and even Hamas itself,” the lawsuit says. The threat from these demonstrations closed Jewish schools and other Jewish institutions for fear of attacks.
It also includes examples of the organizations following Hamas’ orders. For example, when Hamas and other terrorist groups called for the “masses of our people throughout occupied Palestine to escalate all forms of resistance and struggle against the Zionist enemy, targeting its soldiers and settlers,” the NJSP put out a statement the next day saying it would hold a “Week of Action for Gaza.”
The organizations also invited terrorists and their supporters to speak on campus, terrorized Jewish students and prevented them from accessing places on campus unless they publicly disavowed Israel, and set up a “well-supplied” encampment “with identical tents, toiletries, food, and professional signage,” the lawsuit says. The lawsuit also goes into detail about the occupation of Columbia’s Hamilton Hall and the livestreams of destruction, including one captioned “Student Intifada at Columbia where students have occupied Hamilton Hall.”
The lawsuit alleges that these and other examples are not simply “individuals and organizations independently exercising their free speech rights to support whatever cause they wish—no matter how abhorrent.” Instead, the lawsuit says, they are organizations and leaders “knowingly providing substantial assistance—in the form of propaganda and recruiting services—to, and in coordination with, a designated foreign terrorist organization, Hamas.”
As such, the lawsuit alleges that the named organizations and individuals should be held liable for Hamas’ terrorism, though such a claim likely has little legal standing.
New York and its universities have allowed anti-Israel activities to go largely unpunished, and the state has anti-SLAPP laws that could strike down the lawsuit quickly if a court determines it was filed to silence criticism of Israel through a baseless legal proceeding. Whether the court would be legally correct in its determination may be up for debate, given the bias of New York judges.
